PDP assures of fairness as Jimi Lawal joins Ogun gov race

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun has assured it would create a level playing ground for all aspirants in the state seeking to clinch its ticket for the 2023 polls.

Ogun PDP chair, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, gave the assurance at the official declaration of Otunba Jimi Adebisi Lawal (JAL) for the 2023 gubernatorial race in Ogun State.

Four aspirants are jostling for the party’s governorship ticket, namely Lawal, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, Prof. David Bamgbose and Mr Segun Sowunmi.

Ogundele stated the party would not hinder any eligible member to aspire or contest for any position, adding that it would be fair to all.

The chairman also dismissed allegations that the party had been pocketed and hijacked by moneybags.

“Let me allay your fears over misconceptions and wrong judgement concerning the party’s activities in Ogun.

“The party is for all of us and nobody has pocketed it.

“I, as the Chairman will never say, do or be party to anything that will destroy the PDP in Ogun,” he said.

Ogundele urged all the party chieftains and members to supports aspirants who might emerge as the party’s candidates from its primary elections.

Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, the PDP chairman in Oyo State, urged the party members to ensure that the PDP regains power in Ogun to lift the state to an enviable height.

He stated that the PDP-controlled Oyo state had been transformed since Governor Seyi Makinde emerged.

Lawal expressed readiness to turn the State around if voted into power.

The aspirant, who identified untapped resources of the State, explained that he would use its commonwealth to create even development in the state.

While unveiling his five-point agenda, Lawal explained that his vision would centre on economic growth, human capital development, infrastructure, security and good governance.
