Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola has congratulated City of Knowledge Academy (CKA) pupil Aliyah Adunola as one of the winners of Microsoft Office Specialist competition.
Oyetola, in a statement by Chief Press Secretary Ismail Omipidan yesterday hailed her as one of those to represent Nigeria in United States for the world championship.
Miss Adunola (Osun) and Divine Ihonde (Edo), of same school, won the National Microsoft Office Specialist competition.
Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is a global competition testing skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel® and PowerPoint®.
Commending Aliyah for her feat at the PowerPoint 2016, Oyetola said she displayed the ethos and brilliance of an Omoluabi, saying he would meet Aliyah and her parents soon.
The governor said the role of technology and ICT in basic education cannot be stressed enough, adding that “no one can deny the impact of technology on almost every aspect of our daily lives”.
He congratulated Adunola and management of the school for providing a well-rounded and innovative education, and the proud parents of Aliyah.
“Reading through Aliyah’s academic trajectory, I am convinced that she is on a part of excellence and has laid a strong academic foundation for a successful future. I commend your doggedness and consistency for excellence”, Oyetola said.
The governor, who wishes Aliyah a successful representation at the world championship in United States, said his government would support efforts towards expanding value to educational development in the state.
Adunola got a scholarship from Access Bank to study in CKA after an excellent result in the school entrance in 2016.
She also performed well at her Cambridge International General Certificate Secondary Education (IGCSE).
Adunola said she would study Accounting in United States or Canada to tackle challenges in the economy.
Her ambition is to be Finance Minister or Central Bank governor.
