President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said he would look into and assent a bill seeking to formalise the establishment of the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN).
He spoke at a ceremony marking the conferment of the Global Integrity and Anti-Corruption Award of Excellence on him by the CIFCFEN, performed by a delegation from the institute, led by the Chairman of its Board of Trustees’ Governing Council, Dr. Iliyasu Gashinbaki.
The award is the highest honour of the institute, reserved for only African heads of state with impeccable character and unimpeachable ideals and Buhari is the first African leader to be given the award.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari was given the award in recognition of his commitment to the fight against corruption and selfless service with exceptional integrity.
The President thanked the institute for the honour, saying: “This recognition further imbues in me hope that we will, as individuals and citizens of this country, begin to live right and imbibe the ideals and ethos of the founding fathers of this great nation.”
