Seventeen years after the demise of former Onitele of Itele, Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun Governor, Ogun State, has installed Ademola Eletu Asorota as the new monarch of the community.
Speaking at the installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the new monarch in Itele town, Abiodu said the enthronement of Oba Ademola Eletu was in accordance with the Obas’ and Chiefs Law, Laws of Ogun State, 2021, and the custom and traditions of Itele people.”
The governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun said: “Traditional rulers are always at the forefront of political, economic and social development in their different purviews, enjoining the new monarch to constantly champion efforts that could bring rapid development which the community has missed in the last 17 years.”
He urged the people of Itele-Ota to give the new monarch all the support and cooperation required to move their community forward..
In his remarks at the occasion, Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Olanlegege lauded the state government for the appointment of the new monarch for Itele after a long wait spanning 17 years.
Oba Obalanlege urged the government to address the infrastructural decay of the town, especially the construction of its road networks.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Eletu, newly coronated Onitele of Itele, appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State for herding the call of his people by appointing him as the new Onitele, promising to utilize his personal resources to better the lots of the community and support the people in the best way possible.
