The Grand Alliance for Tinubu-Shettima-2023 (GATS-2023) has applauded the appointment of Plateau Governor Simon Lalong as the DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The group described it as a show of the readiness and preparedness of the party for victory at the poll.
A statement signed by its Director General, Engr. Raji Kazeem Kolawole said: “Let us start by situating the appointment of Governor Simon Bako Lalong as the DG of the APC Presidential Campaign Council within the context of timelines, readiness and preparedness
“It is worthy of note that while the APC happens to be the last major political party to conduct its presidential primaries, it is the first to constitute and announce its campaign council
“A testimony to the readiness and preparedness of the presidential ticket for the onerous job of Nation building. It shows the seriousness of the APC as a party in getting the job done
“Of course, APC couldn’t have presented a better DG of Campaign considering the available individuals and prevailing political parameters for considerations.
“Coming from the background of a profound grassroots politician, Governor Lalong has also learnt the curve in public service having been elected twice as the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2007. He also doubled as the Chairman, Forum of State House of Assemblies Speakers in Nigeria. He was the longest serving Speaker in Plateau state history”
The group further attested to the religious tolerance nature of the DG and gave the example of the enduring peace being enjoyed on the Plateau as a testimony to his political acumen in managing people of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
“The present peace being enjoyed on the Plateau is a testimony to the uncommon capacity of Governor Lalong to manage people of diverse backgrounds and religions. Furthermore, the confession of Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar, the Chief Imam of the mosque that rescued Christians from 10 villages in Barkin Ladi from the ravaging hands of bandits, that Governor Lalong is peace loving and promoter of all religious’ interests in the state, is a testimony to this.
“We are of strong conviction that the choice of Gov. Lalong will further compliment the potent political force of Tinubu-Shettima formidable ticket come 2023 Presidential Election”
In the same vein: “we congratulate the appointments of Festus Keyamo, SAN and Hannatu Musawa as the Spokesperson and Deputy Spokesperson of the Presidential Campaign Council respectively. We have no doubt in their capabilities to deliver on their mandate of a robust public engagement on behalf of the Campaign Council and the party.”
“Conclusively, we wish the new DG, a result achieving tenure and successful delivery of the APC Presidential ticket in the 2023 Presidential Poll.”
