The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State in the House of Representatives, Elder Leke Abejide has been honoured with the title, “Asiwaju Yoruba Kano,” by the Yoruba in Kano State led by Oba Yoruba Kano, (Sarkin Yarabawa, Kano), Alhaji Murtala Alami Otisese (Adetimiri-1).
Elder Leke, who is also the Asiwaju of Yagba land and the Alu Kingdom, his home town, thanked Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and the people of Kano State for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive as well as the co-existence of various tribes in the state he referred to as one of the biggest economic hubs in Africa.
Elder Abejide said: “It will be an understatement to say that I am humbled, honoured and ecstatic to be conferred with the chieftaincy title of Asiwaju Yoruba Kano by Oba Yoruba Kano (Sarkin Yarabawa, Kano), Alhaji Murtala Alimi Otisese (Adetimirin-1) on behalf of the entire Yoruba, Oba-in-Council and the Yoruba Community, Kano.
“I have lived and managed a business in Kano for 30 years, indeed Kano is a centre of commerce, one of the largest and most prosperous cities in Africa.
“I commend the Kano State Government, the Emir of Kano and Chairman Central Council of Emirs of Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, for keeping and ensuring harmonious co-existence among the various ethnic groups in Kano.
Elder Leke floated one of the biggest campaign organisations for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his presidential ambition next year.
He described Tinubu as a leader with a great vision that will transform the country.
