Royal family seeks Sanwo-Olu’s intervention in Obaship tussle

The Ilupokiki royal family has urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene in the crisis rocking the vacant stool of Oniju of Iju-Ogundimu, in the Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos.

The family also urged Sanwo-Olu to urgently resolve the issues delaying the installation of the next monarch after all processes of selection in accordance with the ruling family’s agreement have been completed.

Addressing journalists, the Head of Ilupokiki ruling family which claimed to be next to present the next monarch, Alhaji Rahmon Asalu, said it has been uncovered that some unscrupulous elements are working underground to sweep away the normal processes of selecting the next king under the carpet.

He said: “The family is yet to understand what is delaying the installation of the new monarch to fill the vacant stool. All the required documents to fill the vacant stool of Oniju of Iju-Ogundimu had been submitted to the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs through the Department of Chieftaincy Affairs in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government over four years ago, but we are not hearing any positive response from the government.’’
