ChAIRMAN of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government in Lagos State, Prince Usman Hamzat has said youthful exuberance can be curbed through sports, saying they should channel their energies toward positive ventures. He spoke at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and groundbreaking of Kingmakers Ifako-Ijaiye Mini Sports Complex.
The project is a partnership between Ifako-Ijaiye and Kingmakers, owners of Betking sports betting and digital gaming.
Hamzat hailed the firm for partnering the council and thanked the Oba-elect of Iju-Ogundimu for donating the land.
Managing Director of Kingmakers, Gossy Ukanwoke, praised Hamzat for developing sports, saying the council’s agenda aligned with the vision of Kingmakers.
The sports complex includes facilities for main parking, admin building, multipurpose court, lawn tennis and basketball courts, five a side pitch and spectators’ stand.
Chairman of Ogundimu Community Development Association (CDA) Chief Felix Usalo, promised that the community would own the facility and make good use of it.
Leader of the House, Victor Onifade, who is also the councillor representing the community, promised to monitor the development of the facility and work with the community to protect it.
