Senate of University of Jos (Unijos) has approved a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
He is Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, of Department of Public Law.
The appointment, which is for a renewable term of two years, is subject to confirmation by the governing council.
The senate at its 3rd Special Meeting for 2020/2021 Academic Session considered the nomination of two candidates put forward by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tanko Ishaya and selected Amupitan.
The new appointee obtained his Bachelor of Law in 1987 at University of Jos and proceeded to Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
He was called to Bar in 1988, got his Master of Law in 1993 and PhD in 2007, both from from University of Jos.
A statement by Deputy Registrar, Abdullahi Abdullahi, noted that Amupitan held several academic and administrative positions.
Prof Amupitan’s research interests are diverse and wide, ranging from providing Legal Framework for Privatisation of Public Enterprises in Nigeria, Reform of Electoral Laws in Nigeria to Reform of Privatisation Law in Nigeria and Petroleum Industries Law Reform in Nigeria, among others.
He hails from Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State, married with four children.
