The Special Adviser to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma on Special Duties and Political Intelligence Chief Regis Ifeanyi Uwakwe, has said that he deserves a second term because of his achievements.
Uwakwe spoke during his 65th birthday in Houston Texas, United States.
He premised his assertion on the relative success of the Three R mantra of the administration.On reconstruction, the major reconstruction of roads in the state capital and rural areas(305 wards) bore testimony to this, apart from the massive reconstruction of Owerri urban roads and the use of the Balloon technology to control flood in the Chukwuma Nwoha axis of the state capital.He also said that the state Governor has promised to extend the Balloon technology to the Akwakuma/Amakaohia axis to control the perennial Flooding in the area.
On recovery, he said the Uzodinma administration has recovered both government and private properties coveted by the previous administration. A committee which was set up to administer and ensure that recovered properties are returned to their legitimate owners are on the verge of completing its assignment.
On rehabilitation of delapitated infrastructure,the current government he said has made it’s mark.
The road revolution going on in the state have been completed and commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari ( the Owerri/Orlu, Owerri/Okigwe roads phase 1; and the ongoing Owerri -Mbaise-Umuahia roads) cannot be over emphasized.These roads come with drainages and street lights.More than 300 other state roads, have been completed. Even construction works are ongoing for the notorious mgbee – Akokwa. He asked his audience whether any of them had travelled home recently on the newly constructed federal Roads and they said No.He now went to present pictures and slides of the commissioned roads which astonished the audience.Chief Regis Uwakwe said he came with those materials knowing the type of questions he always faces on private visits.
The Special Adviser who is from Ehime Mbano said it takes him less than 35 minutes to get to Ehime Mbano from Owerri using the newly constructed Owerri, Okigwe road Phase One ,a journey that usually takes 1hour thirty minutes previously.
On insecurity, Uwakwe said Imo is safer today than before. This was achieved with the ingenuity of Uzodinma, in collaboration with various security agencies.On the December Celebrations, Uwakwe assured them of their safety as the Imo State Government has elaborate security arrangements for the period.
Uwakwe said government is not unaware of the bad press it enjoys in the hands of disgruntled opposition who do not believe in constructive criticism. He said lies and propaganda cannot win the battle. He said no administration in the history of the state has posted the record of totally reconstructing federal roads in the state and that he stands to be faulted.
On the issue of insecurity in some bad spots in Orlu zone,he acknowledged that more efforts are being out in place to totally secure the state.
Imo state has become a destination for the siting of Federal Government projects and intervention programmes due to the popularity and ambiance that Uzodinma enjoys with the Federal Government. He has succeeded in connecting the state to the federal political grid.
