NORTH East Development Commission (NEDC)  has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) on how to deliver over 530 projects initiated by the commission.

The MoU was signed at the commission in Abuja.

Managing Director of NEDC,  Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, said the MoU was designed 11 years after the region suffered attacks on infrastructure and livelihoods from Boko Haram insurgents.

He lauded the leadership of NSE for collaborating with NEDC engineers to fastrack the process to ensure quality projects and infrastructure.

According to him,  the Master Plan had been produced to capture economic activities, such as commerce, education, agriculture,  water resources,  digitalisation, health, and peace building among states, local governments and communities in the region.

NSE President, Tasiu Gidari-Wudil, said the MoU was to ensure that quality and last longing infrastructure replaced the destroyed ones in Northeast.

Gidari-Wudil said: ”It is worthy of note that the leadership of NSE, through our Presidential Committee on Northeast Rehabilitation and Development has watched with interest efforts of your commission in rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Northeast…

“You may wish to be informed that apart from our MoU with NEDC, NSE-North-East Rehabilitation and Development Committee has worked with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

“The NSE is working on a MoU with NNPC-Gas and Power Investment Company (NNPC-GPIC); Chad Basin Development Authority, among  others. More so, the  committee has been working with your commission in the spirit of the MoU and we trust that we will work harmoniously with you towards full implementation of the MOU.”
