The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nura Ali, said 241,091 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) have been collected in the state.
He assured of a free, fair and credible poll.
He said a total of 24,254 PVCs were uncollected while 75,789 represented transfers with 66,600 successfully achieved and 9,981 unsuccessful.
The REC, who was represented by Head of Voters Education and Publicity, Mr Muhammed Abbani Takai, said 3,991 BVAS for use across the 3,991 polling units including all sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the elections in the state were ready.
He said 16,000 ah-hoc officials were recruited for the elections exercise in the state.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Sokoto state branch has received all the sensitive materials, just as the commission has deployed non-sensitive materials for the elections to the respective local governments areas,” he said.
Ali urged journalists to be factual in their reportage while appealing to all those involved in the elections process to not betray their conscience.
