The Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege Old Students’ Association (ACAOSA) has honoured eight members of the association during the Ninth Annual Ramadan Lecture.

The lecture was held at the Jubril Martins Memorial Hall of the Anwar-ul-Islam College (formerly Ahmadiyya College), Agege.

The event also featured lectures on the Islam Perspective of a Good Governance by a Lagos State University (LASU) lecturer Dr Mustapha Bello and Health Benefit of Ramadan by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Need A Dieticiam.Com, Alhaja Sukurat Olaniyan.

Among the awardees are former Nigerian Ambassador to Ghana Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; former All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Balogun.

ACAOSA President Alhaji Lawal Pedro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) congratulated the awardees.

The honour, he said, was to thank them for their desture to the association over the years.

Pedro described Ramadan as a month of spiritual rebirth.

He urged members to ensure they maximize the rewards of the Holy Month by engaging in more good deeds.

He advised Nigerians to be good citizens and shun acts capable of destroying the image of the country.

One of the awardees, Senator Obanikoro described the award as recognition of his gesture to the association.

“Anytime you are recognised by your peers from school, you have to appreciate it because you are not the only one there. There are others who are also contributing their quota to the development of the alumni and school,” he said.

Another Awardee, Alhai Balogun, a 1972 set Head Boy, said “the college has done a lot of positive things in my life and has helped so many people build on their dreams”.

He said the award was a great honour for him as the college has helped him in building a great career.

ACAOSA former president, Dr Adelaja Omofade thanked the association for the honour.

He said the school has impacted greatly on them, hence the need to give back to its development.

The guest speaker, Dr Bello urged Nigerian leaders to rule with the fear of Allah.
