Nkechi Blessing debunks rumours about her ‘engagement’ ring

DSS secures conviction of suspect over illegal firearms possession in Niger Justina Asishana - Minna The Niger State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) has secured the conviction of Usman Abubakar for illegal possession of firearms. Abubakar was arraigned before the Minna Chief Magistrate Court 1 on Wednesday, January 3rd, and was charged for possessing an automatic pump action gun and four live cartridges without having an authorized permit. Abubakar was brought to court by the operatives of the Department of State Services and was arraigned by Malam Abdulmalik Sani, the head of the Legal Unit of the Command. The First Information Report (FIR) presented in court stated that Abubakar had two magnum pump action rifles without a lawful permit which were found concealed in a bag. According to the FIR, Abubakar was arrested by a joint patrol team along Minna-Paiko road alongside his brother who managed to escape arrest. The FIR stated that the crime committed was contrary to sections 9 (1) and (2) and punishable under section 27 (I) (b) (111) of the Firearms Act Cap F28. The court was informed that Abubakar confessed during interrogation that he bought the gun in Nasarawa State at the rate of N600, 000 for self-defense for self-defense due to the armed banditry attacks in their community. The defendant pleaded for leniency, stating that he purchased the gun to protect himself. The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Umma Mohammed, convicted Abubakar but reserved the sentence until January 17.

Popular Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has addressed engagement rumours with her younger partner, clarifying that the wedding ring spotted is part of her love for rings. 

She debunked the proposal speculations, explaining that she uses the rings to promote an accessories business.

Nkechi cautioned people to stop assuming she’s engaged when they see a ring on her finger.

She said: “I am going to say this for the very last time and I won’t say it again. Anytime you see me wearing rings, especially on this finger, don’t come and start writing things like “Oh congratulations, oh dem do finally engage her.”

“Even when I single, you go see ring for this finger, when I dey relationship you go see ring for this finger, I have said this several times I am a lover of rings, I love wearing rings on this finger and wherever I chose to wear my rings shouldn’t be your business.

“Cut me some slack guys, what is this? So abeg make una stop to dey write congratulations. It is just something I love and I cannot do without it just because you have a problem with it.”
