The Alafin of Afin Akoko, Akoko northwest local government area, Oba Abdur Raheem Mustapha Adejoro, has urged youths in the country to embrace the production of food and shunned planned nationwide protest.
Oba Adejoro said the high cost of food items has made many public workers and artisans cultivate crops in all land spaces within his domain.
The Afin monarch appealed to the youths to join the vanguard of massive food production instead of joining the protest.
He urged the youths to plant cassava, maize and other arable crops that would fetch money instead of roaming about looking for unavailable white-collar jobs.

Speaking in his palace, Oba Adejoro appealed to landowners to give out the land for farm plantations to boost food production.
He said: “I call on the government to kindly give out farm implements and input at subsidized prices to enable youths to buy them at affordable rates.
“The involvement of all and sundry in farming is the surest way to crash down the skyrocketing prices of food items in the market.”
