My parents supported my music career after my accident – Victony opens up

Afrobeat singer Victony has revealed that his parents only began to recognise his commitment to music after a car accident in 2021 left him in a coma for four days.

He explained that, for his family, music was just a hobby, especially since he had always excelled academically.

According to him, his passion for music deepened when he started university.

He said the turning point came after the accident, as his parents saw the overwhelming support from the music community during his recovery.

He added that the incident made them realize how much he had grown in his music career, and they eventually gave their blessings for him to pursue it.

Victony shared these insights during a recent interview on Sway’s Universe.

“I used to do music as a hobby and everybody knew that I loved music but they didn’t think I was going to take it seriously. I was good at school so they never bothered about it and they never thought it would distract me from my education but when I got into the university, that was when I started to take it seriously

“They didn’t know I was taking it seriously until after the accident. When the accident happened, a lot of people came to the hospital and they wondered how it was possible. They soon began to realise that I had a community that was growing already and they gave me their blessings from that point”, he said.
