The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has given political parties a 48-hour ultimatum to address issues concerning their candidates’ eligibility for the upcoming local government election on February 22, 2025.
Parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were found to have committed infractions in their candidate nominations during the screening process.
OSIEC Chairman, Barrister Hashim Abioye, revealed this in Osogbo, stating that a verification committee was established to assess party submissions, checking candidates’ eligibility based on criteria such as age, tax compliance, and academic qualifications.
