Osun LG crisis: We are yet to receive alert for withheld council allocation—ALGON chair

The Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State, Abidoun Idowu, has said that the All Progressives Congress(APC) chairmen are yet to receive the seven months withheld allocation.

The APC officials, wo were elected in October 2022, were sacked by Governor Ademola Adeleke after a Federal Court nullified the election. However, in February 2025, the Court of Appeal reinstated them.

Despite this, PDP members were sworn in as council executives following the February 22 local government poll, leaving both parties claiming control.

Since then, local government workers under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) have been on strike, while federal allocations remain withheld.

In his reaction to the speculation that the allocation has been released into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), accounts opened for the APC faction, Idowu said fingers are crossed over the fund.

He said: “We heard the rumour just like you, but we are yet to receive alert for the fund. We learnt that the money have been released but we are yet to receive alerts.

 “We are hopeful, once we receive it, the fund will be deploy for the development of our grassroots and a kobo of it will not be lost.”
