An outdoor advertising firm in Nigeria, Lona Global Resources made history by installing the biggest outdoor advertising billboard in Africa in Abuja.
Located in the ever-busy Abuja Airport Road by Lugbe interchange, the board measures 30 by 90 meters, the Managing Director of the company, Idoko Kingsley Ilonah, has said.
Also at the site, Lona is providing a park where people can enjoy Wi-Fi services in collaboration with MTN Nigeria Communications Limited at discounted rate amongst other recreational services.
This idea, Ilonah said, is to go beyond business and give immediate social benefits to the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. “Apart from our Bill Board, the beautification of the site with a park is adding value to the Federal Capital Territory scenery,” he said.
Lona which started business in 2006 with only one LED billboard opposite Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama Abuja, can now boast of over 100 billboards across the country with over 60 of them located in Abuja, Ilonah said, adding that their target is for Abuja to host the biggest billboard in the world very soon.
He said the idea was conceived about five years ago in consonance with the goal of the company to achieve something unique as it marks its 10 year in the advertising business, saying the feat wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of staff of the company, Department of Outdoor and Signage’s (DOAS), Consultant and contractors, as well as MTN Nigeria Communication for believing and partnering with LONA to make this history.
Ilonah listed Niverfer Steel Construction Company Limited, C & S Projects (South Africa) and Maydal Engineering (Nigeria) among firms that made the project a reality.
