PDP, APC clash in Jattu

APC PDP

Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress yesterday clashed in Jattu, Estako West Local Government.

Wife of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Dr. Idia, was in the area canvassing votes from market women when the clash occurred.

There were conflicting reports on what led to the clash but both the PDP and the APC blamed each other for the attacks.

A statement from the Ize-Iyamj campaign organisation said thugs loyal to the gubernatorial running mate of the APC, Philip Shuaibu, attacked the convoy of the Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s wife.

It said the incident happened at Jattu market because the chanting of PDP by the traders infuriated the APC.

The statement said the infuriated the thugs became angry and destroyed several cars in Dr. Idia’s convoy.

It said the action of the thugs angered the traders who then took to burning of any broom in sight.

Dr Idia Ize-Iyamu was said to have escaped unhurt.

The APC  said its supporters were in a  road show tagged “sweep them away” when PDP thugs led by one Jaret Tenebe started stoning them.

It said three police officers who were invited by Hon Shaibu were attacked by the PDP thugs.

The statement reads in part, “Having unleashed violence, Ize-Iyamu and his party has been using every available platform to deflect blame on to the APC, who have been busy enthusing and engaging the good people of Edo North with our message of change while Ize-Iyamu is reveling in anarchy”.
