An Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court in Osun on Wednesday granted N100, 000 bail to each of three accused persons charged with assault and stealing of oranges.
The accused persons are: Bisiriyu Ojuade, 55; Salisu Ojuade, 45, and Simiat Ojuade, 43.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode also ordered the accused persons to swear to affidavits of means with each of them affixing their two recent passport photographs to them.
Ijiyode said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and their addresses must be verified by bailiff.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 2, 2017 around 10 a.m. at Balogun Ojuade village, near Ile-Ife.
Ojiezele said that the accused assaulted one Olubola Ajibade by beating her with cutlass which left her with injuries all over her body.
He alleged that the accused unlawfully entered into the farm belonging to Ajibade and stole oranges valued at N400, 000.
According to him, the offence is contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Sections 390 (9) and 251 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of assault and stealing.
The case was adjourned until June 21, for hearing.
