To ensure healthy living for members of his community, the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Hon. Olusegun Ayodele Fanibe, has embarked on free health and surgical treatment for 1,000 beneficiaries in Ife land and its environs, including Modakeke.
In partnership with Solution Providers Multi-Concepts Resources Limited, a private firm, Fanibe also known as Oko Arugbo, sponsored the free health programme which took place simultaneously at Oba Okunade Sijuwade Memorial City Hall, Enuwa, Ile-Ife and Modakeke-Ife Town Hall.
Speaking at the twin event, the Accord Party chieftain, who acknowledged the absolute powers of God, said: “I copied this from my Hon friend who is a member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ademola Ige representing Ibadan South-East Constituency 11 when, in August, he organised this kind of programme for members of his constituency. I told him that I want my people in Ife land and, by extension, Osun State, to benefits from the health programme. I put all I have in it and today, it’s a success.
The reason I’m doing this is many of our people are dying in silence because of lack of funds to take care of their health. And I thought, if I can bring medical practitioners in various fields to examine them and administer drugs to them; it will go a long way in assisting them health wise.”
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, praised Fanibe for providing free medical services for the people in Ife land.
Represented by Eyenla of Amulasaliu, Oba Mayowa Adejorin and Adagba of Iyanfoworogi, Oba Adebolu Fatunmise, the Ooni said: I’m proud of you. I’m proud of what you are doing, especially to our aged people who have health challenges; with this initiative of yours to make them live healthy lives.”
Oba Ogunwusi, therefore, enjoined Fanibe not to be deterred but to be focused in his effort to make the society better.
Also, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adetunji Adedoyin, Olaogbin I, speaking at the free health and surgical programme at Modakeke Town Hall said: “For you to be anything in life, you need perfect health.” He, therefore, commended the untiring efforts of Hon. Fanibe in bringing free health services to the door steps of his people in Modakeke-Ife.
Many who spoke at the two events described the donor as one who is passionate in assisting the vulnerable. The former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeolu Adeleke said Hon. Fanibe began his philanthropic gesture since 1998.
He said: “He never for once forgot his roots as he always mentioned it anytime we are discussing. No doubt, this proved that he’s highly passionate about Ife. Fanibe is spending his money because I know that nobody gave him anything to do what his doing.”
The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Solutions Providers Multi-concepts Resources Limited, Dr. Oluyemi Babalola, in his own speech said: “The objective of the organisation is to develop and maintain health through various programmes for sustainable healthy living.”
He appreciated Hon. Fanibe for making the health of the aged and the less-privileged in Ife land a priority.
A nutritionist, Femi Faleke opined that to live a healthy life, everyone must be careful of what he or she eats.
He said: ”We should make fruits and vegetables our best foods and exercise moderately. Anybody above 35 years should stop taking soft-drink as it causes more harm than good.”
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kabiru Tadese from Abiri-Ogudu in Ife South Local Government Area expressed gratitude to God and the donor for the gesture.
He said: “When I heard about this programme on radio, I decided to give it a trial by going to the Area Office to pick my daughter who is in need of medical attention. On getting to the venue, we were attended to. I’m highly impressed.”
