The river sleeps in its bed
And I sleep in mine
But we save in different banks
And that makes all the fiscal difference
My favourite fruit hangs pretty
From the branch of a comely tree
A rainbow-feathered bird flirts
With the dream beyond my reach
The mountain shifts a foot
The valley grunts in utter surprise
The flowers dream beyond the mountain
But the sky is a million clouds above their head
“I drench their clothes, they curse my kindness”,
The Rain once said in total confusion
“But when I stay dry in my cloudy heights
They curry my favour with pleas and prayers”
If you quarrel with the moon
You must learn to deal with the devil
Of darkness. The night’s mystic cloak
Hides a rattling cache of knives
Take me as I am
Neither honey nor vinegar
Pain’s permanent mansion
Lives in the backyard of pleasure
