Sir: I feel presently that our society is doomed. How long should we be talking about government providing electricity to the people all to no avail? The poorest of countries in the world could avail their citizenry this basic necessity of modern living.
I’m sitting in the dark in my living room seething for lack of power to watch the World Cup games. A government with conscience would have seen the need to provide electricty even if it is temporary for the people to enjoy the world greatest sporting event. We can go back to our woes after the respite knowing that we have a caring leadership.
Our fate seems sealed in the hands of leaders who care less so far they have their giant generators polluting our air with noise and smoke.
How can Nigeria win the World Cup if we are bereft of the serious mindedness needed to accomplish monumental feat? God will help our players. They are like orphans without the support of a strong role model to guide them.
At least I was fortunate to have the advice of someone who cares about me to tell me to turn on the radio on my phone to listen to the broadcast of Nigeria versus Croatia match. Whether that alleviated my sorrow, your guess is as good as mine considering the result of that match. I can only tell you that I went to my sleep soonest after exhausting my hope for a last minute miracle.
Our government must have their priorities right. We have suffered long enough.
