Ekere ‘will’ revamp hospital, build bridge

The Akwa Ibom State governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nsima Ekere, has promised to revamp the dilapidated Mount Carmel Hospital in Akpautong, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government, in six months, if elected.

Mount Carmel, the only general hospital in Ibesikpo Asutan, has been in a poor state for years with inadequate workers, equipment and patronage.

Ekere spoke yesterday when APC campaign team visited the town’s paramount ruler, Edidem Clement Ekpenyong, at his palace.

He decried the condition of the hospital and vowed to turn things around. Ekere also promised to build a bridge to link Asutan Ekpe Clana and Attah’s clan, which had been cut off.

Ekere told the monarch that Ibesikpo Asutan was among the seven councils he designated as special development areas in his manifesto, promising to correct the infrastructural deficit in the area.

The candidate described Ekpenyong as an erudite, educated, exposed and committed monarch.

Ekpenyong blessed Ekere and prayed for his success at the polls, describing him as “the governor-to-be.”

At Mbierebe Akpawat, home of the late Chief Effiong Okon Eyo, Ekere promised to end the deprivation of Ibesikpo Asutan.

He listed projects he executed in Ibesikpo Asutan as managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as Market Road and environs in Nung Oku, the ongoing construction of Idak Editan Road and Ikot Akpabin-Ikot Akpasia Road.
