Anaele Ihuoma’s book launch draws Okediran, others to Port Harcourt

Erstwhile President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Dr. Wale Okediran, was among literary personalities who graced the public presentation of Port Harcourt- based author Anaele Ihuoma’s three books on 3rd February 2019. The books –  Imminent River, a novel, One Day With the Hounds, a play, and The Sea Route to Señorita’s Heart, short story collection, were unveiled by a group of writers, academics, educationists, business and clerical personalities. The occasion which included book signings, panel discussions, spoken word poetry and cultural extravaganza was chaired by Head, Department of Educational Foundations, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Associate Professor NHA Nwafor. The Special Guest, Dr Wale Okediran, commended the author for his painstaking effort in writing the books and restated his (Okediran’s) commitment to the growth and development of literature and the writing industry.  Imminent River was completed while the author was a writer-in-residence at the Ebedi International Writers Residency, Iseyin, which was founded by Okediran and has since nurtured a vast array of writers drawn from all over Africa. The novel Imminent River which was published by Lagos-based Narrative Landscape Press was reviewed by Comrade Chris Nkoro of the Department of English and Language Arts,  Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, who “highly recommended” it as “a valuable collection to Africa’s literary corpus”.

Other writers and personalities present were Rivers State Coordinator of the National Teachers Institute, Dr K.T. Jegede; MD, Acconci Global, Chief Tony Ihuoma; renowned author, critic and don at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Obari Gomba, while Mal. Denja Abdullahi, President of the Association of Nigerian Authors was represented by Vice-President Camillus Ukah. Also present were member of ANA national executive council, Ernest Onuoha, as well as Chairman, Rivers State branch of ANA, Uzo Nwamara and his vice Chairman, Ekaete George, the personable gender rights and development advocate. Mr Biokpo Joshua West regaled the audience with his spoken word poetry performance.
