Abule Ado explosion: Buhari expresses sadness

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the explosion which claimed lives, property and left many severely injured at Abule Ado in Amuwo Odofin council area of Lagos State on Sunday.

Commiserating with the victims of the incident, their families, friends and the Lagos State government, the President said the explosion, just like any other disaster in any part of the country, was a national tragedy.

The President, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, hinted that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was already making efforts to determine the cause of the explosion, which affected one of its pipelines.

“President Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with families who lost loved ones, and all those affected by explosion in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Sunday.

“The President condoles with the Lagos State government and all residents affected by the unfortunate incident, which left many injured and destroyed property”, the statement said.

The statement further quoted President Buhari as saying: “I have received with sadness the news of this unfortunate incident which caused loss of lives and property.

“A misfortune of whatever scale anywhere is a tragedy to the country, and while the NNPC makes efforts to determine the cause of the incident, I send my deepest and profound sympathies to the victims, their families, government and people of Lagos State.”
