The governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa State, Dr Umar Ardo has flagged off his campaign pledging that all public funds will be safe under him if he is elected.
Ardo, who is viewed as the second most likely success story in 2023 after incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said during his official campaign flagoff at the Ahmadu Ribadu Square in Yola: “Our government will restore honesty, transparency and accountability in public service and end the stealing of public funds. We will not steal a single kobo and we will not allow anybody to do so.”
According to him, this will be the culture as his government implements development programmes anchored on conquering hunger, disease, illiteracy, unemployment, and infrastructural deficit.

He stressed that he would so banish hunger and poverty that everyone will have enough to eat.
He told his supporters to be ready to vote in 2023 and be confident in the electotal process because with the new devices and rules to be deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the 2023 elections would be sure to be free and fair.
“Be set with your PVC to vote because 2023 elections will not be like what we have had before,” the SDP candidate said.
Expressing confidence that he will win the 2023 governorship election, Ardo told the crowd that his victory started from the flag off rally.
“I am hugely encouraged by your massive turnout. With this encouraging beginning, our victory is certain,” he said.
The Adamawa SDP governorship campaign flagoff was attended by the SDP Presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo who said, among other things, that he would be radical in improving the nation’s education system if elected.
