Adamawa Speaker wins senatorial seat

Adamawa Speaker Aminu Iya Abbas has won his bid for the Senate.

The Speaker, who ran under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako son of former Governor Murtala Nyako

Dr. Ahmad Umar Alkali of Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola, the Returning Officer, announced Abbas winner with 145,879 votes against 118,555 scored by Nyako

The PDP also won the cosmopolitan Yola North/Yola South/Girei federal constituency as INEC declared Salihu Muhammad Abba winner of the NASS election for the constituency.

Modibbo said Abba scored 71,223 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abubakar Baba Zango, another famous politician who also happens to be of the APC and who scored 54,335 votes.
