The Gboleru Ruling House has warned that the vacant stool of the Akinrun of Ikirun is not for sale to any aspirant.

It also declared that Gboleru House has never adopted one Tajudeen Adesegun as the sole candidate for the vacant stool.

A prince, Gboyega Olatunji from Gboleru House, had stated in Osogbo that Prince Adesegun Gboleru was adopted by the family.

However, the Head of Gboleru Ruling House, Prince Alimi Olaleye and head of the family, Prince Bakare Olaniyan, at a news conference organised by members of the ruling house in Gboleru compound, Ikirun, said: “We debunk the claim that we have selected Tajudeen Adesegun as our candidate for the vacant Akinrun of Ikirun.”

Olaleye explained: “The Gboleru Ruling Home categorically state that at no time did the family agrees to present Taju Adesegun as its candidate. Adesegun claimed that his paternal grandmother (Wuraola) was the daughter of the late Oba Kolawole.

“Adesegun Gboleru claimed to be a resident of Canada. The first contact he made was through Chief Imolokunola, who brought his senior aunt to meet with the Baba Baale. At 57 years of age, with his aunt at 80-year-old, no member of the Gboleru family knew him and neither has he ever visited the compound until he learnt of the demise of the late monarch.

“Segun was, therefore, told without mincing words that even if his story of Wuraola is accepted, there was no way a candidate of female descent can be considered for the exalted throne of Ikinrun Land.

“We equally reiterate here that it is the turn of the Gboleru Ruling House to produce the new Akinrun and it is hoped that justice will be done in this regard. The stool is not for sale.”
