World record holder Tobi Amusan and world silver medalist Ese Brume will today aim to increase Nigeria’s gold medals in the women’s 100m hurdles and long jump events of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Amusan who ran the fastest time in the heat heading to the final will be hoping to retain her title in the event having won the 2018 Gold Coast. The African Games champion will be the cynosure of all eyes when the event takes place this morning at the Alexander Stadium being the climax of the athletics event.
In the women’s long jump, Brume will be competing alongside his compatriot Ruth Usoro with the hope to retain the title she won at the 2018 Gold Coast.
Usoro who had competed in the triple jump in her maiden appearance at the games will also be rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best alongside Brume.
Nigeria’s 4X100m relay teams in men and women events will also be on parade in today’s final being the final event of the day that will herald the commencement of the closing ceremony.
