Anambra launches anti-crime outfit

From Emma Elekwa, Onitsha

The Anambra State government has come tough against hooliganism and illegal collection of tolls.

Transport Commissioner Dr Christian Madubuko, during the launch of Focused Initiative Against Touting (FIAT) at Niger Bridge Head in Onitsha, said the government will no longer condone such acts.

According to him, the anti-touting regulations also affect the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Army. He hinted that the government had already established mobile courts to try offenders who could face imprisonment.

“All touts operating in Onitsha and its environs must leave the city or risk going to jail because there are mobile courts attached to FIAT.”
