Anambra State government says it has uncovered plots by hoodlums to start snatching government vehicles for armed robbery and kidnappings in the State.
The governor Willie Obiano administration, warns government officials to drop their official vehicles and make use of their private ones to be on the safe side.
The alert notice came from the State government, following the rampant killings by unidentified gunmen in the State.
On Sunday night, five members of Ozubulu Vigilante group were killed by gunmen, while their office and security vehicle were burnt.
Also, the State Police Commissioner, Chris Owolabi, had warned residents in Anambra State that law against covering of number plates and tinted glasses on vehicles were still in force.
However, in a message to all the government officials Monday in Awka by Obiano, which was made public by the Secretary to the State government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, said hoodlums were on a rampage to snatch government vehicles to rob and kidnap innocent citizens, adding that people should be at alert.

The message said, “All political appointees are advised to be vigilant and at alert, hoodlums are on the loose to snatch government vehicles and use same for robbery and kidnapping purposes.
“All political appointees who are in possession of Government vehicles are advised to use their private vehicles for now.
“In the case of no alternative car, please be vigilant and always retire home on time.”
