Another Awolowo enters limelight

Olushola Victor

Awolowo is a strong name in Nigeria. Thanks to the great strides of the late Obafemi Awolowo in the making of the country.

But while the name opens exciting for doors, it also puts unnecessary pressure on the sons and daughters of the Awolowo’s dynasty.

After Seyi Awolowo’s participation in the last BBNaija, Oluwasegun Jnr. becomes the latest Awolowo on the spotlight. Before now, only a few people knew of the Executive Director of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Segun Awolowo’s son. But since his father shared his call to the bar photo on social media, more attention has been shifted to him.

In a celebratory mood, the father wrote on Instagram: “Proud of my son, Oluwasegun Awolowo, on his call to the Nigerian bar, completing 4 generations of Awolowo lawyers, which started from my late grandfather, Obafemi Awolowo, and my dad, Segun Awolowo…Congratulations son, now over to you to make it 5. No pressure.”
