Ansar-Ud-Deen commences activities for 11th anniversary

All is set for the 11th Anniversary and maiden honour ceremony for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Youth Association of Nigeria, Adyan Akoka branch.

The anniversary which will climax on October 10, will feature different activities at the central Mosque premises, with the theme as ‘Many Messengers One Message’

At a press Briefing after the Open-Air Lecture put together to sensitize the public tagged ‘Faithful Engagement: Using Social Media as a Tool for Propagating Islam’, the Chairman of the Branch, Alhaji Bashir Lawal, explained that the anniversary will address numerous challenges associated with the use of social media and information technology by engaging the youths to help reduce social media misinformation and deceit.

“Some of the challenges faced by youths is that they don’t know how to effectively use social media and this includes how to limit fake news, kidnapping, terrorism, cultism, fake life, and other social vices being coordinated and perpetrated via social media.

“The program is designed to help reduce social media misinformation and deceit.

“Moreover as Muslims, all that we do, must be geared towards earning the pleasure of Almighty Allah and as a result of that, we must promote righteousness on social media space in order to redirect the consciousness of young actors in the community towards goodness” he added.

Some of the activities to mark the anniversary include environmental sanitation, press briefing, Alhaji Bashir Lawal table tennis championship (ABLTTC2021), Late Alhaja Wasilat Ekishola Quranic and Quiz competition, Humanitarian Visit, Special jumat prayer/thanksgiving Service, Community Water Project and Grand Finale of Anniversary Celebration.

The Adyan Akoka Branch Chairman, Abdul Rasaq Gbadamosi also said various measures have been put in place to prevent social media misconduct.

He called on parents to closely and consistently monitor their children and the friends they keep as the vices that exist on the social media space are uncountable.
