…politicians lay siege on INEC office
The delay in the release of the results of the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is generating widespread anxiety among politicians and non politicians.
Security operatives are having a difficult challenge in controlling the mammoth crowd that had converged around INEC Headquarters along Port Harcourt road.
Journalists and other accredited party agents are thoroughly frisked by stern looking security men before allowed to go in.
Already in Umuneke-Ngor, Ngor-Okpala Council Area of the State, irate youths razed INEC office in protest of the delay in the announcement of the election results.
Meanwhile, the State Police Command has paraded 103 persons for various offences which includes destruction of electoral materials, unlawful possession of firearms, political thuggery, impersonation and conspiracy.
