Anxiety over missing travellers in Ondo community

There is tension among members of National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) in Akoko area of Ondo state over the disappearance of one of their vehicles plying Abuja roads.

The 10-passenger bus was said to have loaded Abuja-bound travellers but has neither arrived Abuja since seven days ago nor returned to Akoko.

It was observed that all the 10 passengers, including the driver, were kidnapped and led into the bush near Obajana in Kogi state.

The owner of the vehicle, who resides at Ajowa-Akoko disclosed that among the passengers was a student of Law School, Abuja who had already paid ransom of N400,000 for his release.

An eye witness, Abdulganiyu Hakeem, said no fewer than 30 passengers from other commercial vehicles were also kidnapped the same time last week .

The kidnappers were said to be demanding N200,000 for the vehicle driver and N100,000 for the remaining passengers totalling N1m to be paid before they regain their freedom.

The families of the abducted passengers were said to be confused about the safety of their people.

Police Area Commander for Akoko,Razak Rauf could not be reached for reaction on the incident.
