APC crisis meant to distract Obaseki, says aide

By Osagie Otabor, Benin

A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Mr. Wellington Osadolor has said the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress was meant to distract Governor Obaseki.

Osadolor said the plot by the disbanded Edo People Movement (EPM) to heat up politics in the state failed because Edo people were happy with the Governor.

He stated that the Governor was not distracted by the activities the EPM but focused on transforming the Edo economy and develop infrastructure in the state.

Osadolor noted that projects executed by Obaseki line the Edo Job Initiative, Edo Innovation Hub, Edo Best Educational Reform, the New Central Hospital, Edo Production Centre, and the revamped Government Science and Technical College have endeared the people to the governor.

He said Governor Obaseki should be commended for reducing the cost of obtaining a certificate of occupancy to N50, 000 and eradicating Community Development Association that had hitherto been a stumbling block to land developers in the state.

According to him, “The issue in Edo is between good and evil, between good governance and scavengers-cum-stomach infrastructure seekers, and above all, between God and godfather. But notwithstanding all the flak thrown at him, the governor is working for the people and the people are solidly with him.

“With the developments on ground, Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki deserves a second term,” Osadolor insisted
