The Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Colonel David Imuse has described the resignation of Mr. Taiwo Akerele, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Governor Godwin Obaseki as a welcome development.
Imuse who leads the Pro-Oshiomole fraction of APC in the state spoke in a telephone interview on Saturday that the development was an indication that people are beginning to see the deficiencies in the administration of Governor Obaseki.
The APC boss in Edo State said it was time for all well meaning party members to join forces with the party to enable it build a very strong and formidable administration in the state.
Imuse said with the resignation of Akerele, “a dump and deaf does not need to be told that the market has closed. It is better for an actor to quit the stage when the ovation loudest.

“We are pleased that the former CoS, who was one of the disciples of Obaseki had realised this is no government. His resignation is a welcome development and it shows that he too had seen what some of us saw many months ago.
“He is highly welcome. I think he (Akerele) will be better off coming to the mainstream of the party and let’s do the needful to move our party forward”.
The party chairman advised other political appointees of Obaseki to take a queue after the former CoS and do the needful, assuring them that the party would be ready to have them back.
Akerele on Saturday in a four paragraph letter dated 25th April 2020 resigned his appointment. He however pledged his loyality to his former boss.
According to Akerele, “I am solidly with His Excellency Mr Godwin Obaseki in his quest to transform Edo state. His mission and vision resonates with mine”.
