The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) state chairmen have dissociated itself from a media report calling for the sack of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The forum, in a statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, and Secretary, Dr Ben Nwoye, described the report as a targeted attack on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and an attempt to mislead Nigerians, wrongly using the name of the forum
According to the statement, the forum is fully in support of all the steps taken by the Buhari administration to reposition the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), including the constitution and inauguration of the three-man interim management committee, led by Joi Nunieh.

The forum went further to express its support for Akpabio, saying that the statement calling for his sack was a figment of the imagination of the unknown authors of the said statement, as it never emanated from the forum.
In a related development, a popular Niger Delta Activist, Mr. Tamuno George, on Saturday lauded President Buhari’s decision in appointing a three-man Interim Management Committee for Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, led by Dr. Gbene Joy Nunieh as Managing Director.
Tamuno, who spoke yesterday, cautioned against unguided statements and unnecessary attacks on Senator Akpabio over the inauguration of the NDDC’s Interim Management Committee, adding that President Buhari want the best for the Niger Delta region.
In a statement which reads in part, Tamuno said, “The NDDC’s Interim Management Committee Dr. Gbene Joy Nunieh, Acting Managing Director, was timely to actualize the Mr. President’s ordered forensic audit of NDDC records, which ought to be applauded by every right thinking Niger Deltan.
“We must be careful of mischief makers who are trying to mislead the public. Obviously, the people of Niger Delta are very happy with the Interim Management Committee.”
