APC: The heroes of presidential primary

presidential election

From time to time, nature consciously creates history-making events. Very few discerning and great minds imbued with vision quickly seize such moment of golden opportunity by moving in, to be integral part of history-making team. Some, who are stagnant in thinking, less adventurous and less discerning, pitiably chose to remain in their docile, unbelieving and immobile state, thus allow themselves to be swept away and consumed by the tide of history.

In its characteristics manner, nature visited Nigeria in the build up to APC presidential primary. While the whole world frighteningly expected a monumental disappointment from President Muhammadu Buhari against the backdrop of his recent autocratic way and manner he adopted to surreptitiously forced Senator Adamu Abdulahi down the throats of party leadership hierarchy and the millions of APC faithful across the nation, the president chose to toe the of path honour and dignity.

For emphasis, the president opted to maintain his towering figure of being a nationalist, an indefatigable Nigerian patriot and above all, father of the nation. Against all odds of political intrigues, he chose to maintain his integrity, credibility and non-corruptible personality that has not only been variously and serially ascribed to his person, but has become the hallmark of his mammoth achievements in the history of his public service.

The commander-in-chief of the armed forces resolved in his mind to be a history maker, preferring to stay glued and committed to his earlier oath and allegiance to Nigerians of bequeathing a legacy of democratic ethos, ideals and principles to the nation. During the APC presidential primaries, that’s what Buhari practically demonstrated by truly and sincerely providing a level playing ground for all the aspirants. Otherwise, the Aso Villa cabal, whose members are bent on maintaining the existing awkward and most frustrating order in the scheme of things, would have had their ways. They would have upturned the mandate of the generality of Nigerians.

Others who joined and collaborated with the president in this display of patriotism and statesmanship are the 13 APC northern governors who against all odds, determined to write their names in gold in the annals of our nation by their unapologetic, unmistakable and unequivocal pronouncement that power must move to the south. It will take those governors’ decades to come to the realization of the fact, that the decision they took, which looks so simple, might have halted the resounding voice of disintegration and separation hovering around this wonderful country.

Surely, nature will repay them and their unborn generation for their wonderful and awesome role at stabilizing the country during this critical moment.

In contrast, Senator Adamu Abdulahi, the APC national chairman and the likes of Orji Uzor Kalu, Ali Ndume and few others chose to swim against the tide of history, by making valiant and spirited efforts at mischievously forcing a very unpopular candidate on the president, the NWC, the party leadership hierarchy, as well as millions of party faithful across the land.

They didn’t stop at that; they did all they could to mislead the delegates that Senator Ahmad Lawan was the only one the president has anointed to be voted for. But, God upturned their devilish plan.

Their desperation could only be traced to their grand desire to frustrate the emergence of Asiwaju Tinubu, who from all indications may be swimming in divine grace and compassion to turn around the fortunes of this prodigiously endowed country, by way of reengineering, restructuring, repositioning, rebranding and reigniting it, in all its facets.  They’re obviously aware that they’re on the wrong side of history and at the appropriate time, history will visit them with its wrath and fury.

Now that Asiwaju Tinubu has emerged, we expect all political intrigues, internal wrangling, evil machinations and designs, character assassination and all other barriers that could frustrate APC to win the presidency come 2023 to disappear and be thrown into the dustbin of history.

Fortunately, it won’t be difficult for Asiwaju Tinubu as a bridge builder of repute to unify the party after the primary. That’s his specialty. We expect all those who lost at the primary or withdrew their candidacy to rally round Tinubu in order to face and confront the real battle during the 2023 general elections.

One exercises no doubt that Asiwaju Tinubu’s emergence has brought excitement and joy to the entire country. The reasons are not far-fetched. In his victory at forthcoming presidential elections lies paradigm shift for the whole nation. Tinubu will surely reinvent and reignite the nation’s tottering economy. He will re-awaken, recreate and reengineer the nation’s infrastructural apparatus, the bedrock and cornerstone of modern and contemporary developments across the globe.

Those manufacturing companies in Ikeja, Apapa, Ilupeju, Agbara, Kano industrial estates and other parts of the country that have relocated their plants outside the country on account of high cost of production and unfavourable economic environment will definitely come back with sound, vibrant, consistent and developmental monetary and fiscal policies that would be the centrepiece of Tinubu’s government.

I’m also confident that the nation agricultural sector would experience the Tinubu Midas touch. During his interactive session with Benue and Gombe delegates, he unequivocally made a deliberate pronouncement of his plan to truly and genuinely make those two states food baskets of the nation. That’s exactly what he would do.

With Tinubu presidency, the nation educational and ICT sectors are poised to experience audacious capital outlay with the aim of making them competing on the same pedestal with the best across the globe. He’s not a man who pays lip service to education and computer development. I see uncommon excitement and development in the nation political sphere with Tinubu presidency.

One thing imminent with him superintending on the affairs of the nation is real prosperity in all nooks and crannies of our nation. I could see a prosperous Nigeria, happy and delightful nation with everyone blossoming and flourishing in his/her enterprise. I visualize him restoring hope for the hopeless, restoring confidence and trust in our dear nation and in short time, breaking the yoke of poverty, frustration and confusion presently pervading in the land.

Indeed, there have been resounding voices resonating all over the country that the country must be divided. Be that as it may, I’m cocksure that Tinubu will find his way around this. He has innate skills and capacity to recreate and reinvent that love and harmony that the wonderful people of this nation experienced and enjoyed pre, during and shortly after independence. Tinubu is a highly detribalized and indescribable mixer. We expect him to bring this unique quality to bear on the nation by again bringing together every ethnic group in this country.

It’s also in the public domain that the Tinubu influence extends beyond the shores of our nation. He’s reputed to have vast contacts and connection amongst the global political and business leaders. With him at the helm of the nation affairs, Nigeria is expected to benefit optimally from this vast and credible international contact.
