APC UK South-West hails Buhari for honouring MKO

Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) United Kingdom South-West, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for declaring June 12 Democracy Day in honour of the late Chief MKO Abiola.

The APC Diaspora caucus members of South-West Nigeria origin noted the sons and daughters of the region as well as history would forever be grateful to the President over the recognition granted the late politician.
In a communiqué by the caucus after its recent zoom meeting by the chairman, Oluwamuyiwa Adesua (Ekiti); secretary, Andrew Taiwo (Ogun); and publicity secretary Olawuyi Alao Ofab (Oyo), it commended all APC Governors in the region over their efforts in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The group also lauded Governors “for their tremendous efforts in keeping the people of the South-West safe from the deadly disease.
“The effort of President Buhari in positioning the country is second to none, especially with his resilience in repositioning the political space as well as ensuring national growth.

“A typical example is the special recognition of June 12 as the new Democracy Day in honour of MKO Abiola, which can never be forgotten especially in the South-West.

“We are delighted that our party’s governors, especially in the South-West, judiciously exemplify the philosophy of the party, even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. They are true public servants.”

The party officials also acknowledged the effort of other sectors of government, especially medical practitioners who are at the frontline to curtail the spread of the pandemic in the South-West, “being the entry point to the country and every other part of the country.”

While commending South-West governors over their decision on the interstate lockdown measures and provision of palliatives distributed to the populace, they also charged them to ensure they adopt a better means of distributing such palliatives in the future, in order to allow for a wider reach.

As part of effort to make the celebration memorable, the APC South-West UK would hold a zoom conference with Senator Babafemi Ojudu on the topic “June 12: The road to immortalisation.”
