At Lekki Phase 1, Admiralty Way, Lagos, there is a beautiful structure that houses Venivici Health Club and Urban Spa. The owner of the building is Arinola Adeniyi, a former banker.
Adeniyi’s style is a story for another day. But her farewell message to her late mother, Esther Adeniyi, buried in Ibadan recently, is something worth giving spotlight. Describing her mother as a strong, bold, industrious, ambitious, resilient and confident woman, she recalled how she bought a piano with the desire to see her children playing it.

The wellbeing specialist stated: “From Kingsway Stores to your entrepreneurial years – Bakery, your neighborhood store, NBL dealership and Flour Merchant, you used your connections well. You were a mother indeed! We had no choice but to turn out well! The ground rules were very clear! Thank you for the values instilled.
“All the complete compendium of encyclopedia in the sitting room were not just for decoration; we had to study them. You were a music lover and so you got a piano for the house. Interestingly, that piano is still sitting in the living room! I might just decide to now take up piano lessons to satisfy that dream of yours!
“You loved and shared a peculiar bond with your siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family. I am glad I reiterated ‘I love you’ after each telephone conversation!”
