A 2027 Lagos state APC governorship aspirant, Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), has said that local governments now have no excuse not to perform following improved funding by President Bola Tinubu.
Adediran, the Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, stated this on Wednesday at the 100 days in office celebration of Oto-Awori LCDA chairman, Mr Abiodun Kareem
The 2023 PDP governorship candidate said the council’s achievements showed what effective use of unrestricted funding could deliver within a short period.
“We must thank President Bola Tinubu for increasing local government funds. Local Governments have not reason not to perform again.
“We appreciate the wonderful works chairmen of various councils are doing here in Lagos,” Adediran said.
He added that Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu deserved praise for releasing full allocations to all councils in Lagos State to ensure implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu at the grassroots.
He praised the chairman for completing a legislative building and donating patrol vehicles to security personnel in the LCDA.
Adediran also presented a N5 million cheque donated by Kareem to the G12 Women Development Fund Cooperative.
He said councils across the state were performing better because funds now reach them without deductions.
Also speaking, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said improved grassroots funding had strengthened local government achievements.

Queen Aishat Audu, Little Miss Kogi on Wednesday called for safer schools, wider digital learning access and more opportunities for girls to discover their talents across Africa.
Audu made the call while addressing delegates at the 2025 African Women Conference in Ghana, with the theme: “Legacy Meets Innovation: Women Forging New Pathways for Africa’s Sustainable Development.”
The statement was released in Lagos by her Media Adviser, Mr Adekunle Aderibigbe.
Audu, also the founder of the Queen Aishat Fathia Audu Initiative, said African women had built strong foundations of leadership, courage and sacrifice.
She added that the next step was ensuring that children, especially girls, could maximise their potential.
“Our world is changing very fast. Children need education, digital skills and opportunities to discover their talents,” she said.
According to her, empowering girls through quality learning remains a major step toward building a stronger continent.
“When a girl is educated, she becomes powerful. When a child is guided, the whole community becomes stronger,” she added.
Audu said African children were inspired by the resilience and achievements of women across the continent.
She noted that girls could contribute meaningfully when given a safe environment and the right tools.
“We only need a chance, safe schools, good teachers and opportunities to express our talents,” she said.
She urged African leaders and stakeholders to continue opening doors for women and girls, stressing that combining legacy with innovation would help Africa achieve sustainable growth.
Audu thanked the conference organisers for giving children a platform to be heard and expressed appreciation to Nigeria for its support.
She also credited her ability to speak at the forum to divine strength.

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has condemned the surge in violence across Nigeria, which has seen brutal attacks and mass abductions in Kebbi and Zamfara States.
In a statement condemning the sad events, Pantami called on government institutions to immediately adopt modern, technology-driven strategies to combat terrorism and protect all citizens.
Pantami decried the series of tragic incidents in recent days. On November 16, the Ameer of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in Kebbi State, Alqasim Uthman Ibrahim, was kidnapped and subsequently killed by terrorists.
On November 17, 25 schoolgirls were abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State. The attack claimed the life of the Chief Security Officer, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, as he attempted to protect the students. Another guard sustained injuries.
Zamfara State similarly witnessed cruelty on November 18 when bandits stormed Fegin Baza village, killing three people, including Umaru Moriki, the Sarkin Fadan Moriki. At least 64 persons were kidnapped, mostly women and children. Those wounded are being treated at Tsafe General Hospital.
The wave of violence extended to Kwara State, affecting the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku as well as Borno State. Among the casualties was Brigadier General Musa Uba, who died near Damboa. Both civilians and security personnel suffered fatalities and injuries in the attacks.
Pantami noted that a technology-driven approach would apprehend the perpetrators, protect people, and restore peace across affected regions. He urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies by sharing relevant intelligence to tackle terrorism and criminal activities.
The former Minister minister expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and joined other Nigerians in denouncing what he described as incessant inhumanity, highlighting the harsh reality facing the nation.
Pantami, who holds the traditional title of Majidadin Daular Usmaniyya, prayed for “divine comfort for the bereaved, protection for those abducted, healing for the injured, and strength for security forces working to restore order.”
The latest attacks underscore the ongoing security challenges facing Nigeria, particularly in the northern region, where banditry and terrorism continue to threaten civilian populations and disrupt daily life.
One person died while another sustained serious injury in a fatal auto crash along Awka-Onitsha expressway in Anambra state.
The crash. which occured at Igbariam Junction on Wednesday involved a red Coca-Cola trailer without registration number and an ash-coloured bus belonging to Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA).
According to eyewitnesses, the ASMATA bus stopped to fix a faulty tyre but did not park properly when the incident happened.
“Because of the wrong parking, the trailer in attempt to manoeuvre, one of its tyres caught the bus and dragged it into a gutter, leaving the occupants with varying degrees of injury,” one of the eyewitnesses said.
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno attributed the cause of the crash to loss of control by the trailer driver.
She said four males were involved, with one injured and one confirmed dead.
“FRSC personnel brought the trapped occupants out of the vehicle and cleared the road after lifting the trailer with a crane.
“The injured was taken to Chira Hospital, Awkuzu, while the body of the deceased was deposited at Jerusalem Hospital, Nteje,” she added.
While sympathizing with the deceased’s family and wishing the injured victim speedy recovery, the FRSC boss urged motorists to drive cautiously, maintain safe speeds and avoid reckless manoeuvres.
“The Command’s priority is to save lives and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. We will continue enforcing traffic laws and educating the public to prevent similar incidents,” she stressed.
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged all Nigerians to reaffirm collective responsibility to safeguard, nurture, and empower every child in the country, stressing that children must be given the support and freedom they need to realise their full potential.
In a message to commemorate World Children’s Day 2025, marked globally on November 20, Senator Tinubu said the theme of this year’s celebration; “Listen to Children: My Day, My Rights”, underscores the need for society to provide young people with meaningful platforms to express their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations.
She noted that the UNICEF-developed theme is a powerful reminder that respecting children’s rights and protecting them are fundamental to building a just and compassionate nation.
“Our children are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are active participants in shaping our world today. When we listen to their voices, we gain insight into how best to create a safer, more inclusive, and nurturing society”, the First Lady said.
Tinubu emphasised that children must be viewed as contributors whose perspectives matter, not merely as dependents to be cared for.
She maintained that listening to children helps adults understand their needs and experiences, and strengthens efforts to build a society in which every child can thrive.
Calling for a renewed sense of national duty, the First Lady appealed to government institutions, families, communities, and organisations to strengthen their commitment to child welfare and protection.
“Let us reaffirm our collective duty to protect and empower every Nigerian child, ensuring that they grow up with hope, confidence, and the freedom to reach their full potential,” she said.
Actress Yvonne Jegede has stated that looks are a significant factor in the industry but also acknowledges the importance of talents.
In an interview on Hip TV, Jegede stated that looks are crucial in showbiz as they attract viewers and bring in business but notes that many actors have succeeded through other means.
“There are so many things actors can rely on. It’s not just looks. But then again, looks is very important because it’s showbiz. It’s what you show people that’s what brings business so appearance matters a lot.
“However, a lot of people have been able to get on by doing other things. Not necessarily looks. But if you want to rely on your looks, if that’s your best foot, bring it forward. I mean, it happens in every other industry,” she said.
Jegede also expressed satisfaction with her earnings from Nollywood, saying it pays most of her bills and appreciates how far the industry has come.
“I can’t speak for everybody, but for me, Nollywood pays the bills. Not all the bills, but it does pay the bills. So, I’m very good. I’m very happy with where we are now in Nollywood compared to before,” she continued.
She also stated that actors who have paid their dues should be fairly compensated based on their experience and milestones.
“It depends on your milestone and it depends on the dues you’ve paid. I believe if you’ve been here long enough and you’ve paid your dues, you will definitely be paid your worth,” she added.
