Good, godly husbands would be called woman wrapper – Solomon Buchi

Life coach Solomon Buchi has hinted the prerequisite for a Nigerian man who desires to be a good and godly husband.

He maintained such a man must brace up to be tagged a simp and woman wrapper by others who feel he’s being controlled by his wife because of his decision to love and treat her rightly.

Buchi, who wedded his soulmate, Arike, a few months ago, argued some men criticise and denigrate other men for treating their wives appropriately in an effort to cover up their inadequacy of being lousy husbands.

He counselled wise husbands to avoid caving in to hate from trolls who he noted were way below their standing.

“A Nigerian husband that wants to be a good and godly husband must be ready to be called a simp, ‘woman wrapper’, and termed controlled by his wife.

“Some men hate to you be a better man than they are, and their coping mechanism is try to make you feel you’re the inferior one, but no, you’re the better man, and they’re somewhere lower than where crude oil is found,” he wrote.

Club managers praise Flying Eagles’ victory over host Argentina

Fans on Thursday commended the stellar performance of Flying Eagles over host Argentina by beating them 2-0 in front of their boisterous fans.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ladan Bosso-tutored team bravely dumped Argentina out of the 2023 U-20 World Cup with a clean sheet.

Goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Rilwanu Haliru Sarki sent the six-time champions, Argentina out of the FIFA U20 World Cup at the round of 16.

Okey Igbokwe, the General Manager of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Giant Brillant of Enugu, congratulated the team and the technical crew on the historic win over Argentina.

“Congratulations, Nigeria U20 Team, it is a tremendous victory against the World Cup host, Argentina.

“The Flying Eagles’ exceptional performance and determination have brought immense pride and joy to the entire nation. The grit and discipline they displayed on the field are a testament to your hard work and dedication.

“Their triumph against a formidable opponent showcases the immense talent and potential within Nigerian football. They have not only made history but have also demonstrated the strength and resilience of the Nigerian spirit.

“To our coach, Ladan Bosso, his experience, leadership style and commitment to excellence has paid off, and his success will inspire generations of young coaches to follow in his footsteps,” he said.

According to Igbokwe, “to our young gladiators, they should continue to exhibit the same passion and drive in the upcoming matches.

“The journey has just begun, and we believe in your ability to achieve greatness.

“The team should stay focused, work together, and let your talent shine on the world stage.

“Congratulations once again on this remarkable victory! Nigeria stands behind the team united in celebration and support. Go forth and conquer.”

A former Technical Director of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Abdulazeez Olatunde, said it was a sweet victory over the Argentines.

“Actually, this is not the first time we are beating Argentina in competitions, we have defeated them at the finals of 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but maybe at U-20 level we are talking about avenging the defeat in 2008 final in Holland.

“It’s true nobody gave us a chance against the Argentina team, maybe judging from the loss to the Brazilians which was due to technicality because we are not that bad.

“Nigeria lost to Brazil on technicality, because we want to mainly attack them leaving our defence line vulnerable, which led to the counter attacks that produced the two goals.

“In the second half of the match against Brazil, Nigeria was able to peg them back and also equalised with some shots fired which hit the upright and another the side post,” he said.

Olatunde added: “the mistake we made against Dominican Republic whom we should have scored more goals was what the Brazilians did by beating them 6-0.

“We should have won convincingly against Dominican Republic. Nigeria is not a push over in the tournament because we defeated Italy, which is a good indicator of the quality of the team.

“To say that Argentina are a better side coming to the match because they won all of their three matches may not be true. We also did same in 2022 in Cameroon, but we were bundled out by a Tunisian team that struggled to qualify.

“There is no impossibility in football, for records, the Argentina that we rated so high did not initially qualify for this tournament, they only got the chance as host after Indonesia was stripped of the hosting right,” he said.

Insecurity, unemployment responsible for ‘Japa’ syndrome — NIDCOM

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said that insecurity and unemployment are factors responsible for the recent ‘Japa’ Syndrome”, stressing the need to make the country conducive for Nigerians.

Dabiri-Erewa, represented by Kanyinsola Adetunmbi, a member of staff of the commission, said this in Abuja on Wednesday at the 6th Abuja School Debate Tournament on ‘Addressing the Japa Syndrome, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly’.

The tournament is organised by Chen Teen and Youths Development Initiatives (CTYDI), an NGO in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education.

She said that though migration is a fundamental human rights as it has several positive attributes, it also has its bad and ugly sides.

She said, ”According to CNN, a staggering 69 per cent of Nigerians will relocate out of the country with their families if given the opportunity, a 2022 survey by the Africa Polling Institute found and only 39 per cent were willing to emigrate in 2019 according to the same poll.

“Nigeria was pegged as a larger source of immigrants to Canada in 2021.

“Insecurity, unemployment, corruption and other factors are the things that push Nigerians to relocate to abroad”.

Also a Director from the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Chituru Chendo, said that in recent years, Nigerians relocate abroad in search of greeners pastures believing that life in abroad is better than in Nigeria.

Chendo said ‘Japa had been in existence for years as people migrate on grounds of vacation, study, job and medical reasons but it was necessary for those migrating to get well  equipped for a meaningful life.

“On the aspect of unemployment, the International Audit and Tax Advisory from KPMG, projects Nigerian’s unemployment rates from 37.7 per cent in 2022 to 40.6 per cent in 2023.

“Some Nigerians migrate due to unemployment, insecurity, poor education and low standard of living.

“If you are migrating, make sure you have a skill you are going there to sell, make sure you are an expert in anything you are doing.

“Most of us go there without a skill, when we get there we involve ourselves in social vices like drug trafficking, prostitution, cultism, drug addict and others,” she said.

She said that the ugly aspect of migration would lead to the reduction in economic productivity which will eventually lead to collapse of businesses.

”Migration gives a negative impression that our government are not taking care of us and  that our investors are not competent enough.

”When going abroad, make sure you have a plan because this is very important and once you are done come back because no place is safe all countries has its own problems,” she said.

She advised parents sending their children abroad for study not to abandon them because they also face challenges in the new environment they find themselves.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director, CTYDI, said that 60 per cent of Nigerians relocate abroad because of inadequate facilities, 80 per cent because of insecurity and 95 per cent  because of lack of resources.

“43 per cent of Nigerians are living the country each day between 2015 -2020, while 55 per cent of Nigerians have already migrated from Nigeria to abroad,” she said.

In the video, Yetunde got out and walked to him but he ordered her to get back into the car which she did immediately without hesitation.

This elicited varying reactions from the online community with some interpreting his action to mean that the singer beats his wife.

Reacting to the rumour, Big Bird said it was crucial he dispelled it, insisting it was born out of jealousy from many Nigerian men who couldn’t stomach to see that their kind could speak to his wife and she obeyed.

“The most important rumour I must dispel is the one they said that I’m beating my wife. They said I screamed at her to get into the car in the viral video and she went into the car. That she is scared of me”, he said.

“My wife is not scared of me. Trust me, if you know anybody that knows us, I’m the one that’s scared of my wife. But my wife respects me.

“And I know that many of you Nigerian men were just jealous to see a man that can talk to his wife and his wife would listen. That’s the problem. It’s jealousy.”
