My village people have followed me abroad – Bovi

Comedian Bovi Ugboma has raised the alarm about being trailed by his ‘village people’ abroad.

He cried out after noticing a strange ‘occurrence’ in his photo.

The humour merchant, who’s been away with his family holidaying, recently visited the Inter Continental Buck head Atlanta USA where he decided to pose for a photo.

But he was shocked by what he saw in the background of his photo because according to him, it was just in the building when the said photo was taken.

The camera did not just capture Bovi but also what looked like an elderly woman clad in a robe wearing bonnet.

Posting the picture, the utterly startled father of three said: “There was no one in the building when I took this picture. Now zoom and see how scary this can be. My village people have followed me abroad.”

Mark congratulates new Methodist Church Prelate

A former Senate President David Mark has congratulated the new Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Oliver Abah.

Archbishop Abah of Benue Diocese defeated Most Reverend Amos Akindeko of Ogun Archdiocese in a keenly contested election with 90 votes against 87 to emerge winner at the Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church on Sunday.

Mark, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh, in Abuja, noted that the process of Abah’s emergence was a true test of participatory democracy.

He described Abah as an eminently qualified Clergyman to lead the people of God at this trying times when the Church is under siege.

He advised the prelate-elect to be magnanimous in victory by being a father to all, saying “you need all hands on deck to lead the Church successfully.”

Mark urged the Church to redouble their efforts to prayer for intervention amid the myriads of socio-economic and political problems ravaging the nation.

He insisted that in spite of the daunting challenges especially security issues, God is always able.

“I urge you not to be deterred but rather be spurred into more prayers for the peace, security and unity of the country,” he added.

He said such commitment to prayers is more than ever before needed as the 2023 election gathers momentum.

Abah will be taking over the headship of the Methodist Church of Nigeria from Archbishop Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche, whose tenure ended on Sunday.

Sylva didn’t win defamation case against me in US- Online publisher

Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of an online news medium, Pointblanknews.com, Jackson Ude, has dismissed claims that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, won him in the defamation suit in the United States court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Ude said the claim that Sylva emerged victorious in the out-of-court agreement was false, criminal and malicious.

Prior to Ude’s claim, an electronic copy of a settlement agreement entered by Sylva and himself to discontinue the case filed in the court presided over by Joseph F. Leeson Jr. claimed that Ude agreed to take down, delete and destroy all articles and publications alleging any criminal or other misconduct by Sylva appearing on Pointblank News website and its social media accounts.

However, Ude in a statement on Monday via electronic mail, argued that the claims of victory by Sylva was spurious, criminal, malicious, defamatory and disparaging,

The statement reads in part: “My attention has been drawn to the news report being sponsored by the Minister of State, Petroleum, Timipre Sylvia, in which he claimed victory in a United States Eastern District Court, Pennsylvania.

“Nothing can be more ridiculous than such a claim when indeed the Minister was the one who instituted a defamatory case against me, turned around twice to request for an out-of-court settlement through his attorney, used leaders in Nigeria to reach out to me to accept an out of court settlement.

“In 2021, Sylva came to the U.S court and filed a lawsuit against me for defamation. The case started in February 2022. After discoveries were conducted by attorneys for both Sylva and me.

“Sylva appeared for deposition via zoom and was interrogated for close to five hours in May. I was also deposed for about three hours. After the deposition, Sylva through his lawyers approached my lawyers for an out-of-court settlement.

“The first request was denied. He came back again on July 22, 2022 and made another request. This time, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, whom I have tremendous respect for, has been reaching out to me on behalf of Sylva, requesting I accept to settle the matter out of court.”

The publisher said that after going through Sylva’s requests and adjustments made by his lawyers, he accepted the request in good faith and directed his attorneys to proceed with it.

Ude said Judge Joseph Leeson Jr. of the Eastern District court, thereafter, set up a settlement conference hearing for August 11, 2022.

He said the judge also set September 14 as the Jury trial date if they did not reach an agreement to settle, noting that he attended the hearing as ordered by the Judge while Sylva pleaded with the Judge to allow him to appear via zoom.

He added: “At the settlement hearing, we both went through the agreements. The Magistrate Judge, Hon. Pamela Carlos, supervised the process and both parties agreed and signed off the settlement agreement. No judgment was pronounced. Sylva was not pronounced winner as no trial in the case ever happened.

“In plain language, the suit did not proceed to trial or judgement stage. It was simply a settlement out of court which, Sylva, not me, sought.

“It is, therefore, a violation of the Judge’s order for Sylva to sponsor defamatory, malicious and disparaging publications against my person and that of Pointblanknews.com in order to whitewash himself. In due course, he would return to the U.S court to explain his actions.

The amateur attempt to hoodwink the public and spread lies are some of the instruments politicians have employed to deceive Nigerians. Again, Timipre Sylva never won any defamatory case. How can you be a winner in a case that never went to trial? Otherwise, Sylva should show to the public a judgement he obtained from the U.S Court declaring him a winner. It is pure lies from the pit of hell!”

2Baba breaks silence on expecting 8th child with another woman

Celebrated singer Innocent Idibia aka ‘2Baba’ has finally spoken on allegation over expecting eighth child with a banker.

The singer, in a statement by his management ‘Now Muzik’ denied the report of impregnating another woman.

The father of seven urged media platforms and members of the public to completely disregard the allegation as it lacked any iota of truth.

The statement shared by Efe Omorebe via his Instagram page reads: “2BABA: PREGNANCY REPORT IS FAKE NEWS.

“It is understandable for fans, friends and concerned members of public to get curious and seek to know why @official2baba posted an apology to his wife, @annieidibia1, family and management a few days ago.”

“We would like to put it on record that the “why” is exactly what was explicitly spelt out in the same post – the pressure of almost a quarter of century of superstardom and a wish to focus on making music without the burden of high expectations of a role model.”

“Reports of him getting anyone pregnant are totally false and malicious and we urge well-meaning media platforms and members of the public to completely disregard such. It is fake news.”

“Many would recall that this fictitious banker character has been repeatedly getting e-pregnant for @official2baba every two or three years since 2014. There is no iota of truth in this allegation.– Now Muzik.”

Last week, speculations became rife following 2Baba’s public apology to his wife, kids and entire family.

Many wondered the reason behind his apology particularly since there’s been less drama from the Idibia quarter’s lately.

Consequently, a rumour popped up that 2face had yet impregnated another lady, presumed to be a banker and was expecting his eight child; hence the public apology.
