Bello to Muslim Ummah: live by Prophet Muhammad’s teachings

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has admonished the Muslim faithful in the state to imbibe the teaching of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The governor gave the admonition at the residence of Seida Bilikisu Ibrahim Niasse in Okene on Thursday on the 2023 Maulud Baye inyass PARADE

Bello recalled that the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through whom the religion of Islam came to the world, has brought about positive changes in the existence and relationship among mankind and other living things on earth.

The governor stated that besides the divine revelations that he received and passed on to his followers, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was also a preacher of peace, honesty, patience, generosity, humility, love for one another and fear of Allah.

He said these were the virtues that people of the state irrespective of their religious practices were enjoined to imbibe and put into practice for the betterment of the society.

He admonished Muslims and other Nigerians to live an exemplary life to inherit the kingdom of God.

Bello said that if Muslims and other Nigerians lived a life worth emulation, and practiced what they preached, it would not only enable the people to inherit the hereafter but it will also promote peaceful co-existence among the people in the country.

“We are in an elections season and at a time like this, I urge all Muslims to pray for Nigeria while I call on the good people of Kogi State to live in peace and harmony with one another inspite of our ethnic, religious and political differences.”

The governor enjoined the Muslim faithful to use the period to offer special prayers for peace in the state in particular and in the nation in general in the face of the current challenges in different parts of the country.

He reiterated the irrevocable commitment of his administration to the maintenance of law and order as the government has in collaboration with security agencies taken all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property of the residents.

He maintained that Kogi would remain the most peaceful state in Nigeria under his leadership and urged citizens to stay away from all forms of violence.

On the Naira scarcity which has brought untold hardship on the people,  Bello said he shared in the pains and anguish the policy has unleashed on the people, which formed his decision to approach the court to seek intervention

“I am aware of the hardship and agonizing pains you have been going through to access your monies because of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Naira redesign policy. This is something that would have been done without you going through any pain.

“As a government with the mandate and responsibility of guaranteeing your welfare and security, the governors of Kaduna, Zamfara and I approached the Supreme Court and applied for an order of Interim Injunction restraining “the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the commercial banks from suspending or determining or ending on February 10, the time frame with which the now older version of the 200, 500 and 1,000 denomination of the naira may no longer be legal tender.

“The Supreme Court gave its ruling that you can continue to use both the old and new naira notes in your transactions. We shall continue to stand by those we took an oath to defend, we can’t close our eyes seeing you suffering unjustly for the selfish interest of the few,” the governor said.

He also urged the people of Kogi Central to elect the APC presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and Assembly candidates, noting that on the platform of the APC, his administration has been able to bring development, peace and security to people.

Replying, Seida Rahamatullah Ibrahim Niasse thanked the governor for finding time to attend the occasion while praising what he called his leadership which had brought peace and security, particularly to Ebiraland and Kogi State in general.

  • Best African currencies to trade in 2023

Best African currencies to trade in 2023

As a forex trader, African currencies are some of the best currencies to trade. Africa is the world’s second-largest continent and the world’s second-most populous continent after Asia. The economic outlook for African countries influences the performance of their currencies. The best currencies to trade are those with proven strength supported by a progressive economy.

You can trade these on a forex trading platform, which gives you access to the forex market. The forex market is the central place where traders and investors have access to buy or sell currencies. Traders buy and sell currencies at the foreign exchange rate; the exchange rate reflects how strong a nation’s economy is. This article explores some of the best African currencies you should trade in 2023.

7 Best African Currencies to Trade

    Tunisian Dinar (TND)

The Tunisian dinar is the national currency of Tunisia, a North African country. The country generates revenue by exporting insulated wire, crude oil, olive oil, non-knit men’s and women’s suits, and motor vehicles. The Tunisian dinar is one of the strongest African currencies and has proven to be the most stable against foreign inflation rates compared to other currencies. With strong future projections for this currency, ensure you’re up to date with inflation rates in the country before executing your price direction in forex trading. Currently, the conversion rate of the Tunisian dinar to the USD is 3.11 TND to 1 USD.

    Nigerian Naira (NGN)

The Naira is the national currency of Nigeria, Africa’s most populated country with over 206 million people. The country exports crude petroleum, gas, scrap vessels, refined petroleum, and special-purpose ships. The naira lost almost a third of its value in 2022 due to increasing inflation rates and oil theft. As a forex trader, you can capitalize on the rise and fall of currencies to make profits. In the parallel market, the naira trades at 750 NGN to 1 USD, while the official rate is pinned at 461 NGN to 1 USD.

    Libyan Dinar (LD)

The Libyan dinar is the national currency of Libya, a North African country with most of its landscape lying in the Sahara desert. Libya exports crude petroleum, gas, gold, scrap iron, and refined petroleum to generate revenue. At the time of writing, 4.79 Libyan dinars are equivalent to 1 USD. According to the African Development Bank, Libya’s economy is projected to grow by 3.5%, depending on how stable the political and security environments become. The Libyan dinar has increased in value over the past 12 years following Gaddafi’s rule and is a good choice for forex trading.

    Ghana Cedi (GHC)

Ghana’s currency, the cedi, was one of the most popular currencies forex traders capitalized on in 2022. The currency lost more than half its value against the dollar last year as inflation rates were at an all-time high. In addition to high inflation rates, political unrest and security issues were other factors that contributed to the sharp decline of the cedi. Ghana specializes in producing crude petroleum, cocoa beans, cocoa paste, Brazil nuts, coconuts, and cashews. Currently, 12.17 Ghanaian cedis are equivalent to 1 USD.

    South African Rand (ZAR)

South Africa is the largest gold producer in Africa, and the Rand largely determines the price of gold. The Rand is a good choice for trading as a strong economic policy, low inflation rates, and a high GDP per capita in South Africa back it up. South Africa is a big exporter of gold, platinum, coal briquettes, diamonds, and cars. The country’s exports have steadily increased, and its inflation rate is at a 5-month low. In the foreign exchange market, 17.76 South African Rand is equivalent to 1 USD.

    Moroccan Dirham (MAD)

Morocco, located in North Africa, is one of Africa’s biggest tourist attractions. The country experienced a strong economic rebound in 2021, with a GDP growth rate of 7.4%. Morocco’s inflation levels are rising due to a surge in fuel prices and a drought. The country exports cars, mixed minerals, insulated wire, phosphoric acid, and calcium phosphates. Morocco’s economy witnessed exponential growth after King Mohammad VI introduced free-market reforms that generated economic stability. As of today, 10.24 Moroccan dirhams are equivalent to 1 USD.

    Seychelles Rupee (SCR)

Seychelles is a small African country with over 115 islands in the Indian Ocean. It has the highest nominal per capita GDP of any African country and the second-largest human development index in Africa. The Seychellois rupee is the country’s official currency and is among the strongest African currencies. Inflation rates in Seychelles are low compared to other African countries. It exports recreational boats, processed fish, and passenger and cargo ships. The Seychelles rupee trades at 13.50 to 2 USD.

    Conclusion

The forex market contains over 170 currencies. Forex traders make predictions about the possibility of a currency gaining or losing value, thereby affecting its price. If the currency moves in line with a price prediction, the trader makes money from the difference in price from the entry price to the current price. Some of the best African currencies to trade include the Nigerian Naira, the Tunisian dinar, the South African rand, and the Seychelles rupee. Some of the best indicators for the price movement of a currency are inflation rates, political and security events, and the economic GDP. If you want to trade profitably, ensure you’re well informed of each country’s past and future economic projections.

Tips When Buying a men’s Cuban Bracelet

Cuban bracelets are popular because they’re easy to wear and they look great on nearly any man. They go well with a number of outfits, including business casual and formal attire. A Cuban link chain is a good choice if you’re looking for something that can be worn either formally or casually, depending on what you wear it with. Here are some tips to help make sure your purchase will be the right one!

    What is cuban link bracelet?

Cuban link bracelets are a type of jewelry that is made up of links, which are small metal rings. They can be made from stainless steel or gold, and often feature designs that look like braided rope or chain mail. Cuban link bracelets are usually worn by men because they have an elegant yet masculine appearance. They are often paired with other types of bracelets such as link watches or cufflinks in order to create a complete look for an evening out on the town (or even just going to work).

    Types of cuban bracelets

There are several types of bracelets available. The Cuban link bracelet is one of the most common types of bracelets, and it can be made from many different materials. Some examples include gold or silver, but there are also other materials such as leather and hemp that can be used to craft these accessories.

There are many different kinds of links that make up a Cuban link bracelet; these include ball links, barrel links, slinky links and tapered ones (to name just a few).

5 Tips to buy men cuban link bracelet

    • Consider your budget
    • Check the material
    • Check the color combination
    • Look at the link size (and if it’s adjustable)
    • Look at the clasp type

And lastly, look at the weight of the watch. When you wear a watch, it should feel comfortable on your wrist and not too heavy or bulky.

The size of the watch should be proportional to your wrist. A small watch can look dainty, but it may not be as accurate or easy to read as a larger one.

How to Wear a Cuban Link Chain

Cuban link chains, also known as Cuban link bracelets, are a type of jewelry that can be worn in many ways. The links can be worn in different positions on the wrist and they are usually made up of gold or silver material.

The most common way to wear cuban link chains is by placing them around your wrist with one end hanging down at your wrist bone and another end resting against your palm. To achieve this look:

    • Put your thumb through the loop at one end of the chain (this will form two loops). Then take both ends together through one loop until there is only one loop left on either side;
    • Slide off any excess length so all three pieces meet up evenly when wrapped around your wrist;
    • Close by fastening with a clasp or making sure all three pieces touch each other at once before putting on other accessories such as bracelets or watches

    Conclusion

EPL: West Ham hold Chelsea 1-1

Chelsea’s winless run in the Premier League extended to three games as Joao Felix’s first goal for the Blues was cancelled out by Emerson in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Graham Potter’s expensively assembled side once again failed to live up to their price tags as the pressure mounted on the Blues boss.

Portugal forward Felix put Chelsea ahead in his second appearance for the club, only for Italy defender Emerson to haunt his former team with an equaliser before halftime.

Ninth-placed Chelsea have won just one of their past eight games in all competitions and are nine points adrift of the Premier League’s top four.

Chelsea, without a win in their last seven away league games, splashed out more than £300 million ($362 million) on new signings during the January transfer window.

Although Potter insists he is well aware of the pressure to get Chelsea back on track, the former Brighton boss has been unable to stop the rot and is certain to face further scrutiny about his position.

The Blues face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last 16 first leg on Wednesday and Potter desperately needs to steer his team through to the quarterfinals to earn some breathing space.

Failing to beat lowly West Ham was another black mark against Potter, with the east Londoners sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

Felix returned for Chelsea following a three-game suspension and the on-loan Atletico Madrid forward posed an immediate threat when his goal was ruled out for a tight offside decision.

Chelsea’s winless run in the Premier League extended to three games as Joao Felix’s first goal for the Blues was cancelled out by Emerson in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
A few minutes later, Chelsea appealed in vain for a penalty, claiming substitute Conor Gallagher’s shot was stopped by Soucek’s hand.

The draw meant Chelsea have now won only one of their last seven league games – and they have not won away since October. They stayed ninth in the table, nine points behind fourth-placed Newcastle who have played a game less.

West Ham climbed up to 15th but are only two points ahead of Everton, the highest placed team in the relegation spots.

West Ham failed to heed that warning and Felix made them pay as he opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

  • 2023 UTME: JAMB Registers 1.1m candidates

2023 UTME: JAMB Registers 1.1m candidates

Over 1.1million applicants have registered for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede stated this on Saturday while monitoring the ongoing registration exercise in some computer based test centres (CBT) in Abuja.

Oloyede visited CBT centres at Total Child International School, Dutse, JAMB Abuja zonal office, Life Camp, Global Distance Learning Institute and Sascon International College, Abuja respectively.

He also said the Board would not extend the deadline for applicants to register for the examination, warning CBT centres against extortion of applicants.

It would be recalled that the sale of the 2023 UTME commenced on Saturday, 14th January, 2023, and is set to close on Tuesday, 14th February, 2023

The JAMB Registrar said: “Registration is going on well except some of these schools.

“UTME is not a school based examination, it’s individual candidates and you can see what that school, Stella Maris is doing, collecting N30,000 from candidates in the name of JAMB and then end up mixing up the telephone number of the candidates.

“So once they keep the telephone number of candidates it is unlikely that the candidates, when we are contacting them if we want to make a change in their timetable, you send a text to them and it will not get to them. After they have graduated from the school and want to do change of course, they don’t have access to it.

“And that is a way of extorting the parents. We will take adequate steps to make sure that we stop that. One of the reasons is that we will tell evey CBT centre to stop doing bulk purchase of pin and bulk registration. So, if s centre sells more than one pin to a source or collects money for more than one pin from a source then we will sanction such centre.”

He urged candidates to report cases of extortion, saying that there was a code for candidates to reach the board when they come across any case of extortion, while promising there will be a reward for such act.
