  • Why I’m qualified to become next Awujale of Ijebuland, by KWAM1

Why I’m qualified to become next Awujale of Ijebuland, by KWAM1

Fuji music superstar, King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly called K1 De Ultimate has addressed critics over his decision to contest for the vacant stool of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.

Recall last week, K1 De Ultimate formally declared interest in the vacant throne of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Before K1’s entry, the race had already attracted notable candidates, including a 45-year-old prince from the Adeberu lineage of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Olaseni Ottun, and prominent engineer and entrepreneur Otunba Babatunde Alatise.

In a letter to the chairman of the Funsengbuwa Ruling House dated the 3rd of December, the Fuji icon expressed his intention to vie for the vacant stool, declaring himself a bonafide son of the ruling house, tracing his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage.

He said, “I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, hereby formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland, subject strictly to the provisions of Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.

“I was born on 3rd March, 1957, and I am a bonafide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Agunsebi Quarters, tracing my ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage, which qualifies me to present myself for consideration in accordance with established tradition.

“I have devoted over five decades to the promotion of Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise.”

Reacting in the now-viral video on his YouTube page, Kwam 1 said, “Those who gave birth to me know me, and I also know them. There’s no side for petty talks. I’m from a royal lineage.

“I’m from the Fidipote ruling house, I’m also from the Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode. So, whoever wants to question me, we’ll meet at the field. If it is because of my declaration for the throne, it is my right. You can’t silence me.

“Before the late Awujale Oba Sikiru Adetona passed on, he was of sound mind. He was well lettered, learned and intelligent. He did all findings and investigations well.

“If I’m not from a royal lineage I won’t have be installed as the Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu in 2023 by the late Awujale.

“From both my maternal and paternal sides i.e My father’s father and my mother’s father. They are Kings. I’ve right to the Awujale stool.

“To all Ijebu people, the matter on ground does not cause for fight. When a good thing is to happen to someone, it first comes with controversies. God will make reveal the truth to us all.

“We are all from royal lineage, and there are many princes. Anyone who eventually emerges, we’ll all work together in unison. We are all concerned about the development of Ijebu land. If I’m not capable, late Awujale won’t confer on me the Olori Omo-Oba title.

“The story of my life is on the tale of two Sikirus. One gave me Fuji, some people back then were angry, but it didn’t change anything. The second Sikiru who is the late Awujale, he gave me double title of Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu.

“This will be the final time, I’ll be speaking on this matter. All princes, we are all one. We shouldn’t be in war or be fighting against ourselves.”

JUST IN: Court rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s request to be transferred from Sokoto prison

The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an application filed by the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, seeking his transfer from the Sokoto Correctional Centre to a custodial facility within the Federal Capital Territory or neighbouring Nasarawa State.

Kanu, through the Legal Aid Council, had approached the court with an ex-parte application requesting an order directing the Federal Government or the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to immediately move him from Sokoto to either Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja or Keffi Custodial Centre in Nasarawa.

In the alternative, he asked to be transferred to any custodial facility within the court’s jurisdiction, including Suleja or Keffi, to enable him to effectively pursue his appeal.

However, Justice James Omotosho on Monday declined the request, ruling that such an order could not be granted without hearing from the Federal Government.

The judge directed Kanu to convert the ex-parte application into a motion on notice and serve all parties to allow fair hearing.

Justice Omotosho subsequently fixed January 27, 2026, for the hearing of the motion.

We won’t let those we accepted into PDP kill our party – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike says he and other founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not allow those who joined PDP from other parties to kill the party.

Wike said this on Sunday during the 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction of the party held at the minister’s official residence in Abuja.

The minister also berated the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the party for violating court judgments by conducting what he described as an “illegal convention,”.

He insisted that the party must respect judicial processes if it hopes to regain public confidence.

He accused the faction of disregarding two substantive judgments of the Federal High Court, which he said had ruled on the matter, yet they proceeded to hold their own convention and later approached a State High Court to seek recognition.

“You went to a State High Court to sue the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), asking that the convention must take place

“You got an ex-parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court. How do you disobey two final judgments and still claim leadership?” he asked.

Wike further stated that the same group returned to another court, seeking validation after failing to comply with lawful rulings.

“You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognise you. If INEC already recognised you, what exactly are you going to court for?” he asked.

The FCT minister warned that such actions could jeopardise the future of the party, stressing that leaders must not allow selfish interests to destroy the political platform that has existed since 1998.

“We must not allow our party to die. Leadership requires commitment and honesty, not propaganda.

“If we don’t respect our own laws, how do we earn respect from Nigerians?” Wike asked.

He called on the party faithful to support lawful leadership and unite to rebuild the PDP in line with democratic principles and judicial integrity.

Meanwhile, participants at the meeting urged the party’s NEC to constitute a Caretaker Committee to guide the party forward on grounds that the tenure of the current National Working Committee (NWC) expires on Tuesday.

Responding, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, emphasised that the transition plan aligns with the party’s constitution to ensure administrative continuity, unity, and stability across all structures of the party.

Ohuabunwa said the move was one of several measures designed to consolidate internal reforms, restore confidence among members, and strengthen compliance with the rule of law.

He also highlighted the ongoing establishment of caretaker leadership in certain states and zones, such as Anambra and the South-East — where congresses could not be held earlier, describing these efforts as necessary to prevent leadership gaps and enhance party organization.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that at the end of the meeting, the NEC constituted a National Caretaker Committee as the tenure of the current NWC ends on Tuesday.

The 13-member Caretaker Committee with Abdulrahman Mohammed as Chairman and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu as Secretary would run the affairs of the party, pending the conduct of a national convention.

The NEC also appointed Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) as National Legal Adviser and Umar Bature as National Organising Secretary.

Other members were:  Dr Kyari Grema, Janguda Mohammed, Okechukwu Osuana, Sen. Nwogu Olaka, Sen. Sandy Onor, Prof. Adenike Ogunse, Bisi Kolawole, Deji Doherty, and Dr Ibrahim Aboki.

The caretaker committee has been mandated to run the affairs of the party for a period of 60 days, during which all pending congresses should be conducted and a national convention should be held.

Sola Allyson speaks on spiritual growth, self-discovery

Renowned singer Sola Allyson has opened up about her unique spiritual journey, describing it as an “ÀÌGBỌDỌ̀MÁRÌN one”, a path that is uncommon and perhaps misunderstood by others.

In a post on X, Allyson reflected on her experiences, revealing the loneliness and isolation that come with walking a unique path.

She shared how she had to learn to stop trying to fit others into her space or trying to fit into theirs, recognising that her soul is “encoded” for this journey.

The singer, who converted to Christianity from Islam, emphasised that she has stopped trying to fix others or herself, placing her trust in a higher power.

Allyson wrote, “See, the kind of walk I’m walking, I have not met or seen anyone walking it before.

“Therefore, the kind of expressions I would express, average minds would not comprehend it. They would only try to approach and analyse with top-of-the-mind answers wrapped in ego, which have not saved anyone thus far. The walk is an ÀÌGBỌDỌ̀MÁRÌN one…

“I longed to meet them, actually. They who are this way, or almost. I was open. I thought it would make the loneliness go, and at least I would have some comfort, a cover. I even erroneously “fixed” people into that space, at the slightest similarity…

“Until I had to learn in a really HARD way that I can never fix or fit people into what they’re not, that space that I hadn’t fully recognized at that time…

“And those that I gave that power to, they too tried to fix me—unfixed ones attempting to fix me in their unfixed.

“I tried to fit into their fixings. Oh, I tried. Because I needed them. Since I had none, that’s mine. I really tried. Good Girl. Good Woman! But, ha, what’s inside me is “too much” for what anyone can squeeze into a fit that’s not mine…

“Till I reached the point where I needed to enter an igbó ÀÌGBỌDỌMÁWỌ́ that only me must enter! And oh, fear! But it was beyond me, and I must! My soul was already encoded with it!

“I could have been finished there, but GRACE and HELP from Above accompanied me! And I came out on this side! And now, the ÀÌGBỌ́DỌ̀MÁṢE…

“Having learnt my life lessons that hard way, I stopped trying to fix anyone to fit them into that space. The space of this kind of walk I was chosen for walk. But why me? Ha. But who are me?!  “Who am I” to determine the choosing?! It is out of my hands. Ok. But I receive strength and constant holding!

“For the sake of others like me. Sent souls drowned in sentiments…But ìjẹ́rísí abounds! I have JOY! The comfort with which I am being comforted comforts others, and that comforts me! Maybe this is still misunderstood. But I have just begun!

“I was made, chosen for this. Equipped. With all those junctions I traversed. All I need is added unto me as I go! ṢÈ’MỌ́LẸ̀, my new work, is on major digital platforms. Let you be helped.”

  • How to know if relocating in 2026 is truly right for you

How to know if relocating in 2026 is truly right for you

It is the season when people slow down enough to think about how the year went, what they want next, and whether the next big move should be outside the country.

Relocation is no longer just a trend; it has become a serious life decision. But as many Nigerians have discovered, it is also a decision that requires clarity, planning, and deep honesty. If you are wondering whether relocating next year is truly right for you, here are the real questions that help you see beyond pressure and follow your own path.

Are you running toward something or running away?

Leaving Nigeria is not a magic reset button. A new country will not automatically fix financial pressure, career confusion, or emotional burnout. Relocation works best when you are moving toward a clear goal — career growth, safety, education, better systems — not simply escaping stress.

If you removed pressure and comparison, would the desire remain?

    Is your skill set transferable?

Many Nigerians leave with great experience but struggle abroad because their skills are not directly recognised. Before you start your process next year, check if your industry is in demand. Would you happen to need any certifications? A short course? A career pivot?

Relocation becomes easier when your skill has a home waiting for it.

Can you handle the first year abroad — the loneliness, bills, and culture shock?

Nobody advertises this part on social media, but the first year abroad can be emotionally heavy. The weather is colder, the food tastes different, bills come quickly, and the community is harder to build.

Are you mentally prepared for a reset?

Are you okay starting from a lower level temporarily?

If yes, relocation may be a workable path.

Do you have a realistic financial plan?

Relocation is not cheap. Visa fees, flights, settlement funds, rent, and the months before payday can be intense.

Can you fund the process without emptying your savings completely?

Do you have a backup plan?

If the answer is yes, your journey will be smoother and more sustainable.

How Does This Move Align With Your Long-Term Life?

Think beyond next year. Does relocation support the future you want — family, career, lifestyle? Or does it disrupt something important? The right decision is the one that aligns with both your present needs and your future self.

    The real answer

Relocating next year is right for you if the decision comes from clarity, not pressure. If it aligns with your values. If it supports your long-term goals. If you are prepared to grow through the discomfort that comes with starting over.

And if after asking yourself these questions you still feel a gentle, steady ‘yes’, then maybe the next chapter of your life truly is waiting on the other side.
