Cyber defamation: Sowore’s post on Tinubu generated tension, threatened public safety – DSS witness

    • …court frowns at defendant using his phone during proceedings

Trial opened on Thursday with the prosecution calling its first witness in the criminal defamation and cybercrime case against politician and online publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

The witness, Cyril Nosike, an official of the Department of State Services (DSS), told the court that the false claim about President Bola Tinubu by Sowore, in which he called the president a criminal, generated tension and threatened public safety.

Sowore is being prosecuted by the DSS for allegedly making a false claim against the person of President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as a criminal in a post he made on his X and Facebook accounts.

The defendant is accused of contravening the provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024

Nosike, who was led in evidence by prosecuting lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), said he is stationed at the Cyber Space Monitoring Centre of the DSS and that his duty includes monitoring the cyber space for 24 hours, night and day.

The witness said in the course of his duty on August 26, 2025, at the Cyber Space Monitoring Centre, he detected and monitored a post by the defendant (Sowore) through his X platform.

He said the post referenced as such, “This criminal @OficialABAT, the X handle of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces,” in which Sowore said to “This criminal @OfficialABAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is no MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”

The witness said that when he came across the video, which Sowore allegedly posted and under which the defendant wrote the statement, he (the witness) downloaded it and saved it on a flash drive and marked it XYZ.

When shown the flash drive and a certificate of compliance, the witness identified them as the items he referred to, following which the prosecuting lawyer applied to tender them in evidence.

Defence lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, said he would reserve his objection, which he intends to raise at the appropriate time.

Justice Mohammed Umar proceeded to admit the flash drive and the certificate into evidence.

Kehinde then applied that the flash drive be played in the open court for everyone to see, a request the judge granted, following which the video on the flash drive was played.

The video showed President Tinubu speaking about the achievements of his administration and encouraged Brazilian businesses to invest in Nigeria because there is now a conducive business environment, where there is no corruption.

Shortly after the video was played, Kehinde noticed that Sowore, who stood in the dock, was using his mobile phone in the course of the court proceedings and complained to the judge.

Although Sowore made an attempt to deny using his phone, Justice Umar frowned at the development, saying that it was wrong for a defendant to be using his phone while the court was sitting.

The judge directed an official of the court to retrieve the phone from the defendant and hand it to his lawyer.

Sowore, however, refused to hand the phone to the female court, who moved close to him in the dock to retrieve the phone. He told the court official, “Don’t touch my phone.”

He then sought the court’s permission to hand the phone to his lawyer by himself, which the court granted, following which he walked off the dock and handed the phone to his lawyer, who was standing a few meters away.

The judge then directed Abubakar to place the phone on top of the table in front of the court.

At the resumption of his testimony, the witness said he made a screenshot of the attendant reactions of people to Sowore’s post of Tinubu’s video.

He said seeing the reactions to Sowore’s post, the DSS wrote a letter officially to the owners of the X platform and Facebook (Meta) through their email addresses.

The witness said the letters were for the two social media platforms to take down the post by Sowore, “Considering that the statement on that post was generating tension.”

Nosike said the DSS also sent an official letter to the defendant through his lawyers, who acknowledged receipt of the letter. He said the letter was to demand that Sowore retract the inciting post that he made.

He added that even though the letter to him was a confidential document, Sowore posted a screenshot of the letter on his Facebook platform.

The witness added, “As expected, the letter (which Sowore posted on Facebook) attracted reactions from Nigerians both far and wide.

And, the reactions to that letter were disparaging to the DSS and painted the service in a bad light.

Kehinde proceeded to tender copies of the letters referred to by the witness and his screenshots of the reactions to Sowore’s posts, which the court admitted in evidence.

The witness told the court that Sowore’s inciting posts complicate the work of security agencies like the DSS.

He said, “We have officers and men who have sworn on oath to put themselves on the line for the security and stability of this country.

“Such inciting posts that generate tension, make our work more difficult, and we take such issues very seriously,” the witness said.

At the conclusion of his evidence in chief, the court called on Sowore’s lawyer to proceed to cross-examine the witness.

But, in response, Abubakar begged the court for time to enable him study the witness’ testimony before he could cross-examine Nosike.

Although Kehinde objected to the adjournment sought by the defence, arguing that there was no basis for that, the judge agreed to adjourn the case, but rejected Abubakar’s request for a date in February.

Justice Umar adjourned till January 27 for cross-examination and continuation of the hearing.

Earlier in the proceedings, Abubakar had made efforts to frustrate the planned commencement of the trial in the case.

Abubakar claimed that the prosecution did not serve him the summary of witnesses’ testimonies and other relevant materials as ordered by the court on the last adjourned date.

He said in view of the alleged failure of the prosecution to comply with the court’s order, the defence has filed a motion for the striking out of the charge.

But, when the judge asked an official of the court to hand Abubakar a copy of the proof of service, which Kehinde earlier submitted to the court, the defence lawyer glanced at the documents and claimed that they were forged.

He further claimed that there was a disparity in the dates on the documents.

But, when his attention was drawn to the fact that the documents emanated from the court, he then admitted service and apologised to both the prosecution and the court, following which the judge ordered the prosecution to call its first witness.

Ondo warns contractors handling technical colleges’ projects, threatens contract termination

The Ondo state government has warned contractors handling the construction and rehabilitation of technical colleges across the state’s 18 local government areas to expedite work or risk contract termination.

The warning was issued on Thursday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Mr Tayo Oluyi, during a sensitisation meeting with contractors executing government projects in various parts of the state.

Mr Oluyi said the directive became necessary following his inspection tour of several government-owned technical colleges, where he assessed the level of progress on ongoing construction and rehabilitation works.

According to him, the meeting was also convened to review past efforts, interface with contractors, and identify measures that would ensure the timely completion of the projects.

He explained that the management of the Technical Education Board also presented records and updates on the projects, including bottlenecks affecting some contractors.

Mr Oluyi, who reaffirmed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to technical and vocational education, described the skilled trades as the backbone of industrial development.

“Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa understands that skilled trade is the backbone of any industry. That is why he has provided the financial resources needed to ensure that students learn in a modern, safe, and industry-standard environment. He expects these projects to be delivered within record time,” he said.

Mr Oluyi stressed that the governor had made it clear that any contractor who failed to deliver as expected would be sanctioned, noting that no excuse would be acceptable since most of the necessary funds had already been disbursed.

“At the completion, no contractor will be owed a dime,” he added.

The governor’s aide, however, lauded the contractors who had completed their projects and those who had recorded significant progress, urging others with pending work to return to the site immediately.

He assured that the state government would work with host communities to ensure smooth project execution.

Earlier, the project supervisor, Architect Onibudo Gbenga, presented an update on the level of progress recorded so far, urging contractors to prioritise not only timely delivery but also quality workmanship for the benefit of the communities.

Remarking on behalf of the contractors, Mr Yemi Dara expressed appreciation to the state government for the engagement and support, particularly in addressing challenges previously faced by contractors.

He pledged the contractors’ full cooperation and commitment to delivering the projects as required.

NAOSS applauds Abiodun’s launch of AI-powered teaching platform

Students under the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) have praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for launching an AI-powered Teaching Platform aimed at improving the delivery of quality education and advancing learning in the state.

In a statement jointly signed by NAOSS National President Olubodun Olalekan and General Secretary Adesanya Peter, the students described the governor’s initiative as groundbreaking, noting that it has the potential to transform education across Ogun State.

The statement highlighted that the innovative platform will enhance teaching and learning by providing students with access to advanced technology and equipping them with essential skills for the digital era.

NAOSS also expressed confidence that the digital platform would help bridge gaps in educational resources while offering students a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

“The AI-powered Teaching Platform is a testament to the Ogun State government’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve education.

“The platform will provide students with access to virtual classrooms, online resources, and interactive learning tools, enabling them to learn at their own pace and explore new concepts more engagingly.

“The NAOSS applauds the state government’s vision and initiative in introducing this platform, which is expected to improve academic performance and outcomes in the state.”

In a similar vein, the student body also lauded the Ogun State Government for establishing a 100,000-capacity poultry pen in the Odeda Farm Settlement.

According to NAOSS, the agriculture initiative is expected to create job opportunities for youths and students, providing them with a source of income and enabling them to contribute to the state’s economy.

It stated further that the poultry project would provide internship opportunities for students pursuing agric-related programmes, giving them hands-on experience and practical skills in poultry farming.

“The establishment of the poultry pen is a significant step towards promoting agricultural development in Ogun State. The NAOSS believes that this initiative will not only provide employment opportunities but also contribute to the state’s food security and economic growth.

“The Association commends the state government for its efforts in promoting agricultural development and encouraging youth participation in the sector.

“The NAOSS also notes that the poultry pen project provides entrepreneurship opportunities for out-of-school youths and students engaged in small-scale farming. This initiative will enable them to expand their businesses and increase their income, improving their economic prospects and contributing to the state’s economic growth. The association believes that this project will have a positive impact on the lives of many young people in Ogun State.

“The 100,000 capacity poultry pen is a model of large-scale poultry farming, providing students and youths with exposure to modern agricultural practices and technologies. No doubt, this initiative will inspire more young people to take up agriculture as a career, contributing to the state’s agricultural development and food security.

“The NAOSS appreciates Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to education and youth empowerment. These initiatives demonstrate his administration’s dedication to equipping Ogun State students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success. The Association pledges its support for the state government’s efforts in promoting education, youth empowerment, and agricultural development.

“The association urges all stakeholders to support these initiatives of the state government, ensuring their success and sustainability. With the support of all stakeholders, these two laudable projects will have a lasting impact on the lives of Ogun State students and contribute to the state’s overall development.”

  • Nigeria, U.S. deepen partnership as Ribadu highlights gains on terrorism

Nigeria, U.S. deepen partnership as Ribadu highlights gains on terrorism

Nigeria and the United States on Thursday reaffirmed their growing security partnership, pledging closer cooperation to curb terrorism, protect civilians, and strengthen accountability across conflict-affected areas.

Speaking at the opening of a bilateral Working Group in Abuja, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, said the engagement marked the third high-level interaction with senior U.S. officials since November 2025, and reflected a relationship “grounded in trust, candour and shared responsibility.”

Ribadu said Nigeria approached the talks “as a partner, committed to practical outcomes,” describing the platform as one focused on problem-solving rather than compliance.

“These engagements have moved decisively beyond dialogue to action,” he said.

Ribadu said enhanced intelligence sharing and closer coordination between the U.S. military and Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters had strengthened counter-terrorism operations, particularly in the North-East under Operation HADIN KAI and in the North-West and North-Central under Operation FASAN YAMMA.

The NSA added that recent operations had led to the neutralisation of hundreds of terrorists, destruction of logistics hubs, and interception of key collaborators.

The NSA welcomed U.S. commitments to the timely delivery of military equipment, including drones and helicopters, noting that the cooperation respected Nigeria’s sovereignty and prioritised accountability and civilian protection.

Ribadu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had declared security emergencies in vulnerable areas, authorised intensified joint operations, and directed sustained deployments to communities facing repeated attacks.

He added that Nigeria was expanding early-warning and rapid-response mechanisms and developing a national database to provide verified data on deaths and casualties arising from violence.

“Nigeria is a deeply plural society, and the protection of all citizens—Christians, Muslims and those of other beliefs—is non-negotiable,” Ribadu said.

“Violence framed along religious lines is treated as an attack on the Nigerian state itself.”

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the partnership had delivered “very tangible operational gains,” particularly in intelligence sharing and military coordination.

He added that the Working Group would seek to accelerate the delivery of outstanding defence equipment procured by Nigeria over the past five years.

“We want Nigerians to know that this partnership is working and yielding results,” Idris said, urging patience as engagements continued.

The U.S Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, said Washington remained committed to broadening cooperation with Nigeria to protect vulnerable communities and counter terrorism.

Hooker said since President Donald Trump designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern in October 2025, both countries had made progress, including the recruitment of additional police officers, arrests and prosecutions linked to mass killings, and the rescue of abducted Christians.

“We appreciate Nigeria’s close cooperation with us on degrading terrorist capabilities,” she said, adding that recent airstrikes were closely coordinated with Nigerian authorities.

However, Hooker expressed concern over fresh reports of abductions in parts of Kaduna State and urged continued efforts to protect religious communities and hold perpetrators accountable.

She said advancing religious freedom and security would strengthen broader cooperation in trade, health, and regional stability, while helping to disrupt terrorist financing and arms flows.

Both sides said the Working Group would focus on outcomes, sustained cooperation, and measures to reduce killings, abductions, and displacement, as Nigeria and the United States work to “turn the tide on insecurity and terrorism.”

  • Insecurity has reached peak, it can only be declining, says Bishop Adelakun

Insecurity has reached peak, it can only be declining, says Bishop Adelakun

The Presiding Bishop of Victory International Church, Ibadan, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, has stated that the country’s insecurity crisis has reached its peak, assuring that incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of violence are set to decline.

Adelakun, who also serves as the National Vice President (Southwest) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), made the remarks during a press conference at Rehoboth Cathedral, Oluyole, Ibadan.

He addressed pressing national issues and unveiled plans for the 2026 Global Miracle Crusade.

The seventh edition of the Global Miracle Crusade is scheduled to hold from Thursday, January 29, to Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crusade Ground in Wonder City, opposite Dominion University along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway.

Speaking on the nation’s security situation, Adelakun acknowledged its severity but emphasized that the current challenges mark a climax rather than a permanent state.

Bishop Adelakun said, “I believe we have reached the climax of insecurity in Nigeria. From this point, it will only go down. It will not rise again. Anyone who wants to destroy Nigeria, God will not allow it.”

The cleric said recent violent incidents across different parts of the country have exposed what he described as long-standing denial of targeted killings and persecution, particularly against Christians.

He added that these developments are becoming increasingly evident to the international community and could lead to stronger global engagement in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

“Recent events have exposed the hypocrisy and false narrative that there is no genocide or persecution in Nigeria.

“These realities are making clear statements to the world and will embolden the international community, especially the United States, to become more involved in addressing insecurity, kidnapping, and killings in Nigeria,” he said.

While acknowledging the depth of the crisis, Adelakun said divine intervention often manifests when nations appear overwhelmed, stressing that hardship does not negate God’s promise of help.

“When God says, ‘I will help you,’ it presupposes that there will be challenges and situations where we are helpless, but His help covers every situation”, he added.

While speaking about the Global Miracle Crusade, Adelakun said attendance has grown steadily over the past three editions, which he described as a confirmation of the church’s expanding mandate. He added that the programme has now assumed a global dimension, with participants joining through digital platforms from multiple continents.

To ensure accessibility, the church plans to deploy free shuttle buses across all 11 local government areas in Ibadan, covering routes from Moniya, Ojoo, University of Ibadan, Mokola, Bodija, Yemetu, Bere, Molete, Ring Road, Challenge, Toll Gate, and parts of Lagelu Local Government.

Adelakun said the crusade would focus not only on spiritual renewal but also on restoring hope in a country grappling with fear and uncertainty.

He urged Nigerians to attend with expectation, stressing that salvation remains central to the programme, alongside healing, restoration, and divine direction, saying, “nothing can be given in exchange for a soul. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”

He also emphasised the importance of moral and spiritual engagement at a time when political and security responses appear strained, noting that public officials and policymakers are not immune to moral messages from religious platforms.

  • Nigeria to begin Urea export in 2028, says NMDPRA

Nigeria to begin Urea export in 2028, says NMDPRA

The Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has disclosed that efforts are underway for the country to begin the export of Urea in 2028.

The Chief Executive of the NMDPRA, Saidu Mohammed, who spoke after touring facilities at the Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, also said Nigeria would soon begin large-scale export of fertilizers.

Mohamed and his team visited the Indorama establishment as part of their three-day tour of selected midstream and downstream facilities in the oil-rich state of Rivers.

Mohammed, who said the country was working towards becoming a major hub for value-added products in the oil and gas industry, described the midstream as an important sector that required huge investment to reap the dividends.

He said the country had no business importing value-added products like Urea and fertilisers, especially with the investment being made by some private concerns in-country to boost its oil and gas, as well as related sectors.

Mohammed said, “The midstream of the oil and gas business is really a tremendous segment that requires a lot of investment. We need $30 to $50 billion today if we must get what we need to get Nigeria on the right footing as the hub not only for the oil and gas, but whatever secondary recovery we can have.

“Value addition products like the fertilizers, Urea, and what have you; we have no business importing any of those things and behold, with the expansion of what is going on today at Indorama and many other places including Dangote fertilisers, I am sure that in the next 24 months Nigeria will join the league of Urea exporting countries and that is where we should be.

“And not only being a hub for energy but also being a hub of secondary derivatives of oil and gas.”

Landing Indorama’s investments, the NMDPRA boss said, “It is really a manifestation of what Nigeria needs to have. We need a lot of these in the midstream. Definitely fertilisers, plants, and any value addition that we have on the Hydrocarbon sources is what is needed for this nation to propel.”

Mohammed said he chose to visit Rivers first because of the state’s strategic importance in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, as it housed critical national assets such as refineries, manufacturing facilities, and processing plants, among others.

He said, “You know the midstream and downstream segment of Nigeria and Rivers State has a lot of them. There is no sample that we cannot take; if we want to see anything in the gas process, we will. If we want to see anything about the manufacturer, we shall. If we want to see any of the refineries, we can.

“So we have selected just a few for us to be able to have an overview of what is going on, and that is the main mission.

“The authority is there to facilitate, for us to continue giving them the support that they need, to create the environment for them to continue to add on the investment, while we are attracting more and more investments to grow. That is the whole essence.”

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited, Munish Jindal, said the visit was important for the regulator to better appreciate what was on the ground, including the operations, successes, and challenges.

He noted that Indorma had been operating for over 20 years and acknowledged that the NMDPRA boss had been involved in the establishment of the Indorama company.

He said, “We thank the authorities for the understanding that they have developed all these years for the midstream industry. In the beginning, when we came, it was a big challenge for us to make them understand the set of problems, how we operate, and what is more critical for us. I think that understanding has evolved in the past 18 years.

“We are appreciative of the new regulators, and we fully support that; however, there are one or two issues that many believe would benefit our oil and gas industry, and they are no longer relevant to midstream companies like us.

“However, we have made a keen request to the authority to kindly look into it, and see that this is not relevant in the manufacturing industry, if we are given an exemption.”

The tour of midstream and downstream facilities in Rivers by the NMDPRA boss and his team would end on Friday after visiting other companies.

Stakeholders applaud progress on Sokoto-Badagry highway project

The National Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Coalition of Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in Sokoto State have expressed optimism over the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry highway project, highlighting its potential to transform local communities and regional connectivity.

Speaking during a project site inspection, media tour, and commissioning of emergency road repairs on Wednesday, NSE Sokoto state chapter chairman, Abubakar Ibrahim, lauded the quality and steady progress of the work.

The visit was led by the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement in the Northwest, Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko-Yakasai, alongside Mr Ahmad Abdullahi, Director of Information, Ministry of Works.

Ibrahim, who also serves as Director General of the Sokoto State Rural Access Agency, emphasized that the project reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to improving lives, particularly in rural areas.

“Affected rural communities were removed from bondage. The road will open up more opportunities, and the quality of work will benefit Nigerians for a long period. Some people were earlier doubting the reality of the project; now it has become a reality,” he said.

Dr Abdurrahman Umar, Secretary of the Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations in Sokoto State, described the highway as a landmark achievement that will boost socioeconomic activities nationwide. Umar noted that the superhighway connects seven states from the North to the South and is being executed to international standards with facilities that could significantly transform Nigeria’s economic fortunes.

Alhaji Chika Abbas, Deputy Director of Civil Engineering, Sokoto State Ministry of Works, added that the project would improve living standards and complement the state government’s development efforts. Community resident Alhaji Halliru Alfada also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for delivering projects that enhance local livelihoods.

”Residents mostly engage in rain season farming and face difficulties in transporting their harvests. With the present road network, dams and other facilities, residents will engage in dry season farming and smoothly transport their harvests to markets,” he explained.

Another resident, Alhaji Maude Aliyu, said the superhighway connected Katami, Alfada, Kabin Kaji, Gumbaye, Burgu, Gadanbe, Gidan Gara, and Silame communities, and most residents were engaged in different farming activities.

A cross section of others commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, showcasing the nation’s potentialities, youths and women empowerment, healthcare, and educational development, among others.

The Project Manager from HITECH Construction Company, Mr Johon Fourie, expressed appreciation to community residents and leaders for their support of site workers, stressing that they enjoyed a cordial relationship.

Fourie said they engaged locals on various jobs, ensuring local content for manpower and other associated works in the execution of the project.

He added that clearance, concrete pavement laying, installation of solar lighting, and other works were going together to ensure speeding in the project along all six sites concurrently.

In his address, the Federal Controller of Works in charge of Sokoto state, Mr Kassimu Maigwandu, said the project covers 120 kilometres in parts of the Sokoto state axis, and it encompassed six lane concrete road, bridges, a solar lighting system, and a railway.

Maigwandu explained that the project was also designed with installment of CCTV cameras, a health post, strategic security stations, and other facilities to enhance prompt response to emergencies.

He said the project is being executed in phases and sections touching different communities, adding that contractors commenced works from six different locations, going on simultaneously on all the sites with good security arrangements.

The controller explained that the legacy project was more than infrastructure but meant for rejuvenating the economy, agriculture, tourism, education, health, and other benefits to the citizens.

Earlier, SSA to the President, Tanko-Yakasai said described the project as distinct and a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to uplift the lives of citizens

He noted that the superhighway project was initially conceived during late President Shehu Shagari’s regime in the 1980s, now being actualized by President Tinubu, and urged Nigerians to support him for continuity of legacy and people-oriented projects.

Tanko-Yakasai commended Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, for spearheading the execution of four legacy highway projects designed to improve road network and train service connectivity across the six geopolitical zones to boost socio-economic development.

He listed the projects to include the 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Corridor; 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry road, Calabar-Abuja superhighway, 482km Trans-Saharan road, and 439km Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe road.

It was recalled that the 1,068 kilometres Sokoto-Badagry road was inaugurated on Oct. 24, 2024, in Illela LGA, part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at encouraging infrastructure development and uplifting socio-economic activities in the country.

Meanwhile, Tanko-Yakasai and Sokoto Council Secretary of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Muhammed Nasir, inaugurated completed road repair emergency projects along Sokoto-Jega-Birnin Kebbi road conducted by the federal government in 2024.

Police smash kidnapping syndicate, arrest 10 suspects, recover ammunition, others

The Delta State Police Command has revealed that 10 suspects, including five members of a kidnapping/armed robbery syndicate and five cultists, have been arrested by operatives of the command.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.

Edafe said that on January 20, 2026, at about 0430 hours, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad (SAKCCS), acting on credible intelligence, carried out a coordinated follow-up operation in connection with reported cases of kidnapping and armed robbery across Obinoba, Obiaruku, Abraka, Ororokpe, and neighbouring communities.

He said the intelligence-driven operation, executed along the Jedo/Ugboton–Warri axis, involved the discreet trailing of a suspect to a notorious criminal hideout allegedly operated by one Oke Jerry Ekokodjie (male) and one Ibori (surname unknown).
