2023: Umu Igbo let always think right

    • By Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu
Anambra State Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for a second time in a few days, put social media on fire with a long detailed article on his stand on the presidential ambition of Peter Obi, the chances of ndị Igbo in National Politics and crazy activities of social media bandits. In the article, Soludo clearly stated that Peter Obi is in a wild goose chase and that he knows that he is going nowhere. Soludo’s article is a comprehensive response to reactions by Peter Obi’s team of supporters who were obviously dancing to music played by the Labour Party Presidential Candidate. Recall that recently during an interview on Channels Television’s flagship programme “Politics Today”, Soludo made it clear that the purported investment Peter Obi made in his company with tax payers money worth next to nothing. The governor also condemned the administrative recklessness that Obi supervised and maintained that it is crazy for a governor to divert taxpayers money to invest in a company he has a personal interest in at a time when many classrooms were in very bad condition and when many citizens were in hospitals without proper medical care provided. After Soludo’s interview on Channels, Peter Obi in his usual style, commissioned his battalion of social media warriors to launch a humiliating attack on him. The attacks also came with threats which the governor confirmed in his article titled “History beckons and I will not be silent Part 1”.
In his article, Soludo maintained that he cannot be cowed or bullied by some charlatans. He further made it clear that only two political parties are in the 2023 Nigerian Presidential Race and that other parties are just merely exercising their franchise. The governor further said that the Candidate of Labour Party for the election Mr. Peter Obi who is also onye Anambra is not going anywhere and that he knows he is not going anywhere but decided to play a game that is well known. Soludo also wondered why Obi abandoned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which is the ruling party in his home state Anambra and preferred to run on a platform of Labour Party (LP), a political party that is neither here nor there especially when he knows that he is going nowhere. The governor further revealed that even though APGA which is his party has a Candidate in the election, it is clear it has no chances of winning. Soludo’s line of thought is aimed at promoting APGA which is a major regional party in Alaigbo to a full national party because if Obi preferred APGA to LP, it will create a room for more efficient negotiations of Igbos’ interests at the center considering the fact that APGA already has a sitting governor, state and federal legislators.
Soludo’s line of thought is understandable and no Igbo man who truly wants to promote the collective interests of ndị Igbo at the center will oppose it. It is a fact that ndị Igbo lack the political strength and numbers to influence their way into Aso Rock and it is very unfortunate that over the years, ndị Igbo always repeat the fatal mistake of doing arrogant politics. The level of insults, name-calling, and verbal abuses dished out to compatriots that have the biggest political muscle in the country shouldn’t be expected from a region that is anxious of occupying the nation’s most powerful office. It is also sad that the South East is yet to understand that until the region is able to show other regions that they are ready and willing to work with them, no Igbo man can win a Presidential Primary Election of a major party not to talk of winning a presidential election because we lack the numbers and political strength. This is why I laughed out loud when some of my brothers were lambasting the main Opposition Paty, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for shifting the goalpost in the middle of the game. I understood clearly that the PDP is quite aware that it will head to nowhere if it fields an Igbo man as its presidential candidate. In fact if that happened, the party will be defeated even before voting is concluded in all parts of the country. No major party shall risk fielding a Candidate that hails from a region that sees themselves as the only qualified people and regards others as illiterates who only know how to rear cattle. You can’t be calling fellow compatriots names like cows, illiterates and even terrorists online and expect a major party to risk losing election and nominate you as its Candidate, doing such will automatically cancel the votes such party should get from the insulted region(s).
It is very sad that the South East, a region filled with many learned and exposed citizens is so myopic politically and delights in committing same blunder each election season. The needless hate ndị Igbo have for other compatriots made them to keep supporting the PDP in presidential elections despite the fact that there is no tangible project executed in the region by the party despite being in power for sixteen uninterrupted years. The worst blunder was committed in 2015 when ndị Igbo had more reasons and better chance to leave PDP and join the national train but instead to doing the needful, ụmụ Igbo chose to remain in the camp of lies and self-deceit by massively supporting PDP for only one reason being that Buhari who was contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a Fulani man. Many Igbo leaders including Peter Obi championed a very suicidal propaganda against Buhari and APC, the self-destructive propaganda machine described Buhari as illiterate, a General without a certificate, brain dead, terrorist and arch enemy of the Igbo race that would islamize Nigeria if given power. They even earlier rebranded former President Jonathan with a new name “Azikiwe” to deceive many that the Otuoke man is son of the soil. They all did these in spite of the fact that Jonathan’s projects in Alaigbo were near to Zero especially after he upgraded the Enugu Airport to a glorified secondary school and showed no political will to construct the Ziks Mausoleum and Second Niger Bridge.
In advancement of their needless hate for other compatriots, ndị Igbo refused to appreciate the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari on his interventions in Igbo land. The social media warriors rubbished the Second Nigeria Bridge Construction which Buhari started with a claim that it is ndị Igbo that will fully pay for the project because a “Tollgate” was provided on it. What a dumb reasoning! Thank God the bridge is near completion and at least, the shallow minded compatriots rubbishing the project will drive through it or maybe, they will ‘cancel’ the project online.
There is no reason why ndị Igbo should keep marginalizing themselves in National Politics. One major thing my brothers refused to learn from the APC Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu (may be due to their needless hate) is that you can’t make something from nothing. Tinubu fully upgraded his region into a national stakeholder by consistently standing wifh the Action for Democracy (AD) despite all temptations and threats from the center. He never abandoned the party which was a regional party (South West) to join another party but he continued to support members of the party to contest elective positions even after it was reformed and addressed as Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Action Congress (AC) and All Progressives Congress (APC). Tinubu never wanted to be king of Yoruba or Nigerian Politics overnight, he worked for years by building bridges across the country. He never underrated any tribe and in fact, he appointed some Igbos into the decision-making wing of his camp and party. He continued to exhibit humility and showed love to all irrespective of their ethnicity or religious affiliation.

If Peter Obi really meant well for ndị Igbo, he would have either remained in PDP and get a major stake on behalf of ndị Igbo there, joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and supported the grassroots development of the party in Alaigbo which if done, will bring the baseless sentiments against the party in the South East to an end and consequently, initiate the region into national politics, returned to APGA which is presently the ruling party in his home state Anambra and help promote the party fully in the South East and subsequently, initiate it into national politics or join the Young Progressives Party (YPP) which is another political party that is in possession of an elected public official and promote it to the level that it will fully become a national asset. If Obi has done any of the aforementioned facts, it would have strengthened the power negotiation capability of the race at the center. It is very unfortunate that instead of doing the needful, Obi preferred to run on the platform of a political party that has no grassroots base or elected official and that is a clear confirmation that he is not truly contesting but playing a game that will increase media attention on him, create more sentiments against notable parties, especially the PDP in the South East and make many of his supporters waste their votes. Even though it is true that Obi’s ambition which is nothing but a comedy show is an indirect blessing to APC because votes of the main Opposition PDP which had the South East in the bag will likely be divided in the region since he is from the region and will be on the ballot, the manner in which he chose to play his comic show will harm the political future of ndị Igbo the more. His ambition has opened more channels for online charlatans to further insult other compatriots and anyone who refused to join the bandwagon. This must not be encouraged!.
After Soludo released the first part of his article, Peter Obi in his reaction urged Soludo to continue from where he stopped because that’s how government should be. He also acknowledged that he left classrooms without roofs and that Soludo is brighter than him. The sudden exhibition of humility by Obi shouldn’t be interpreted to mean that he is a gentleman or a mature leader. This is because it has always been his style to publicly pretend to be a Saint and act like a dragon in the background. Peter Obi is a politician that can apologise openly and go behind and recharge his propaganda machine to launch more attacks and that has been confirmed with responses from his campaign Director General, his campaign team, support groups and his anonymous handwriting. Governor Soludo should in the interest of ndị Anambra and Nigerians, release Part 2 of his article as soon as possible so that the public will know the truth and the truth will bring the days of internet bandits to an end. Indeed, history beckons and patriots will not be silent. It is time for ụmụ Igbo to think right.
  • What is COP27 and why is it important?

What is COP27 and why is it important?

The UN climate change conference, COP27, takes place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from November 6-18.

COP stands for Conference of the Parties, and the summit is open to countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) – a treaty that came into force in 1994.

The conference is usually attended by world leaders, ministers, negotiators, representatives from civil society, business, international organisations, and the media.

The COP is hosted by different countries annually and the first meeting – ‘COP1’ – took place in Berlin, Germany in 1995.

Each of these meetings produce set of decisions which are given different names. Last year (COP26), it was called the Glasgow Climate Pact.

The most popular COP was the third (COP3), in 1997. It established the Kyoto Protocol: a set of commitments to achieve the decarbonisation of society and limit the damage from climate change. Another particularly important COP was COP21, held in Paris in 2015.

This year’s COP has been tagged as the “African COP” because it will involve concrete actions and commitments for the development of African continent and it will also focus on how African countries are facing more damage from climate change.

Each day of the COP will deal with different workshops, side events, discussions, plenary meetings on finance, energy, adaptation, loss and damage, others – which serve as focus for events and discussions. Importantly, Egypt’s goals for this year’s COP are mitigation, adaptation, finance, and collaboration

COP27 comes at a critical moment in the fight against climate change. It provides the critical opportunity for business and government leaders to double down on their climate goals, forge new collaborations, and achieve innovative solutions together.

This year, COP27 is also focusing attention on strengthening adaptation and resilience, mitigating emissions, facilitating a just transition, and increasing funding and collaboration for essential climate solutions.

Discussions on chance of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees, global emissions must halve by 2030 and reach ‘net-zero’ by 2050, will top the agenda

This year’s COP is seen as the one that will bring concrete actions and commitments on emission reductions and also on the financing of losses and damages resulting from climate change to the global south.

In order to deliver on the goals, developed countries are usually tasked to make good on their promise to mobilise at least $100 billion in climate finance per year by 2020, and the conference would provide an opportunity to interrogate how this will be done.

At the last COP, the most significant commitment was that made by all nations to come back with enhanced emission-cutting pledges but COP27 takes place as the world is watching Ukraine. One of the side effects of the Russian invasion is an energy crisis. Russia’s war in Ukraine has stifled progress, as many countries that promised climate action have been unable to take any steps.

So, the agenda at COP27 will principally be focused on climate change and solutions, scene-setting for which has been provided by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports over the last year.

All eyes are on this year’s COP, will it be a springboard to action or series of statements of intent? Time will tell.

  • Bayelsa flood a major crisis, says UN

Bayelsa flood a major crisis, says UN

The United Nations has described the flood in Bayelsa State as a crisis of major proportion that deserves attention.

The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria and Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Matthias Schmale, stated this on Saturday when he led a delegation comprising officials of the global body, the World Health Organisation and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources on a courtesy visit to Governor Douye Diri in Yenagoa.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, quoted Schmale as likening the Bayelsa situation to the Pakistani floods that attracted global attention.

The UN Coordinator, who had on Friday accompanied Governor Diri on his tour to some flood-impacted communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, said his visit was a response to the letter from the governor and called for attention to address the devastating effect of the flooding.

Schmale commended Diri for his commitment in visiting flooded communities in the state, noting that what he witnessed required both material and moral support.

He also stated that the UN would advocate and mobilise resources for the recovery phase to enable victims return to their normal lives.

Schmale stressed that it was disheartening that lives, livelihoods and assets had been lost to the flood and called on the federal government and the international community to join hands to support what was left of the immediate response and recovery phases.

Schmale noted that the cause of the present disaster was climate change and that it would be the responsibility of the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to speak emphatically during this year’s Climate Conference in Egypt about the need to invest in mitigation and adaptation measures.

Responding, Governor Douye Diri thanked the UN Secretary General for sending his Rep to the state at a time it was in need of help.
Diri praised the UN for being the first to respond quickly to the situation in Bayelsa.

  • Five benefits of having enough sleep

Five benefits of having enough sleep

    By Mutmainat Asamu

Sleep mostly is underrated especially by teenagers. Having an elaborate knowledge about good sleep, however, can change your mindset and hopefully get you to sleep more.

Sleep is like a break from all forms of emotions one has bottled up inside. It is like taking chilled water under a scorching sun.

Sleeping generally helps the body to relax, release tension, and refreshen the body to wake up like a new person. If you are not convinced, here are the reasons why you should get high on sleep.

Here are five benefits of having enough sleep/rest:

    Improves concentration and productivity:

Lack of sleep alters one’s concentration which leads to less or no productivity. Good sleep enhances memory performance/ decision-making skills. Children/teenagers are required to have 9-10 hrs of sleep at night, and adults have 8 hours of sleep.

    Aids the immune system:

The immune system is essential to the well-being of a normal human being and sleeping consistently guarantees the development of one’s immune system. Adequate sleep ensures a strong defense against diseases, infections and anything life-threatening. This is because while sleeping, breathing and muscle activities slow down which gives room for the immune system to function properly.

    Prevents depression:

Lack of sleep exposes people to the risk of being depressed. It hinders emotional regulation and stability which might lead to symptoms of depression

    Maintains a healthy weight:

Studies have shown that sleep helps to achieve weight loss and hence maintain a healthy weight. The human body exasperates more energy if it is subjected to a lack of sleep.

Boost your mood/makes you less cranky

Being stressed makes people act irrationally sometimes but sleeping alleviates that. Studies have shown that sleeping well helps you relax your body, release negative emotions and boost your mood.

  • Review of Busola Fawole’s ‘To Love Annabelle Revesby’

Review of Busola Fawole’s ‘To Love Annabelle Revesby’

When you read a European book, you expect to see a European author, however the young talented Busola Fawole, one of Africa’s fast growing writers, in the genre of prose is changing the narrative. She doesn’t only master the telling of African stories for Africans, but she also tells the European stories for Europeans.

Her ‘To Love Annabelle Revesby’ is one amongst other peculiar books authored in her name, the book begins with the beautiful, yet unmatched relationship between two women. Annabelle and Anna. One is a lady, while the other is a maid. One is rich, while the other is poor. One is been served, while the other is serving. One is betrothed to get married, while the other is to remain single.

The book speaks of destiny. Sometimes destiny could be hidden. Anna the maid, was destined for greatness, indirectly, we never knew, until fate brought her to the table of greatness. By destiny and fate, she became a handmaiden in the household of Lord Revesby. By destiny and fate, she secretly sends food and money to her family, which the Lady Annabelle knows about. By destiny the Lady is being forced into a marriage, not of her own will. By destiny, Anna stepped into the Lady’s shoes and afterwards, married Lord Aaron Rodborough and that was how destiny and fate led her to the table of greatness.

Love is one of the powerful emotion a person can feel. From the book, we could see how much power love yields, to make Lady Annabelle Revesby forfeits her family, class, influence and friends to elope with a lowly man into an unknown future, filled only with hopes and dreams of a beautiful family. Anna and Lord Rodborough on the other hands, soon began to fall deeply in love, that even after the departure of Anna, when the truth was out, he forgave her and forge ahead into a beautiful future with her.

Busola Fawole choice of words is clean and clear. She painted an exact picture of a gothic society, which makes the reader wonder, as to the ingenuity of her imaginative will power. The language represents a cultural English society. The diction, imagery and characters tells one story, through a refined English sight and background. The description of the buildings, the walls, the room and clothing makes the reader glued to the perfect picture the author painted.

To Love Annabelle Revesby is one book, I recommend to every lover of art, and culture.

  • A room without a roof

    A room without a roof

    By Yetunde Oladeinde

THE atmosphere within was quite serene. The décor and facilities wee all fantastic and they made the environment unique. However there was a snag, this beautiful room had no roof and all that was within did not make up for this single omission. On rainy days, poor Shade was exposed to the harsh weather and the story was the same when the scorching sun took turn to do the usual. In addition, the missing roof top brought all kinds on invasion within and at the end of it all the discomfort was more than the comfort within.

This scenario actually paints the picture of what Folashade was going through before she ran away from her love nest. On the surface, Sunkanmi appeared to have made all the provisions required to make her world go round. But when she came into his heart she discovered that the heart was like a room without a roof. She could never be protected here, she would never experience real love and for so long her heart was exposed to the harsh elements. She was abused by all kinds of intruders and he was just non challant about the whole saga. The more she complained, the more hostile he became and when she just could not take it anymore, she ran away. It was at this point that our dear Romeo had a change of heart, friends and loved ones who heard the one sided story he told also began to rain insults of Folashade. But then when the true story unfolded, it was obvious that she just could not survive in that kind of space, it was better to fight and run way instead of losing her sanity to an uncaring heart.

For a lot of people finding your way out of a wrong relationship can be very traumatic. For Deborah, this was the same experience.  It was quite frustrating but was at that point that I made up my mind to move on and give Matthew the opportunity he had been crying for. In a short while, I discovered that he was not as bad as I thought he was. He also had a change of heart and things got really better.

At this point, she realsied that it was better to stay with this emotional devil instead of going after someone else who may actually turn out to be a disaster.

A heart filled with roses? Yes, that had always been her dream. A desire to be a modern day Cinderella or Snow white.

Dotun was exactly what Maureen had been searching for all her life. Interestingly, the encounter was a chance meeting On that fateful day, she was going to the salon to retouch her hair which was long overdue. Suddenly, she remembered that she forgot to pick her relaxer and she decided to stop over at the supermarket to pick one.

As she stepped into the premises, she bumped into this handsome dude who was just starring at her. Nonsense can you just move out of the way, ‘she muttered. Not moved he assisted her to pick her bag and get herself together. A very close encounter and she was disturbed further but somehow Dotun was cool and calm. “At that point, I wondered what he was up to and quickly moved out of his way. In my heart I kept wandering if he was a fraudster, a miracle or was it just loves at first sight.  He came back and it was apologies galore. As she helped her to carry her things out to the car she felt something leap in her heart. She left for the salon thinking it was all over but Dotun drove ahead and park in a corner watching her gesticulations and every move. He liked what he saw and decided he wanted a relationship with her.

When Maureen finished in the salon, she drove back home tired. The most important thing she wanted was a good sleep. To her utmost surprise, the guy she bumped into at the supermarket was right beside her at the doorstep. Was she going to shout for help from her neighbors or allow her emotional instinct to take over. Well, she took the latter option and that was how the relationship started and got really groovy. For about two years he treated her like an idol. A lot of her friends were wistfully envious of these two lovebirds and the way they projected their relationship to others. On her part, Maureen was also a very beautiful lady with the right curves. She was very faithful with her dude. Of course, there was a constant deluge of propositions but no one was able to lure her away from her dear Dotun. Conversely, Maureen’s heart was not stable, it moved in so direction and that ruined everything they built together.

  • Gynaecologist urges women not to remove their pubic hair

Gynaecologist urges women not to remove their pubic hair

    Agency Reporter

A gynaecologist has urged women not to remove their pubic hair.

Dr Jen Gunter, author of The Vagina Bible, warned against waxing or shaving because it can cause “microscopic trauma” that can lead to infections.

While the purpose of pubic hair is somewhat of a mystery, going “au naturel” is necessary to protect the skin by acting as a barrier against the outside world.

Getting a Brazilian may also reduce sexual pleasure, with pubic hair being connected to nerve endings that might help arousal, Dr Gunter added.

Pubic hair “grooming” has almost become the norm, with many blaming the porn industry.

Scientists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), asked more than 3,300 women about their downstairs grooming.

Of which, 83.8% claimed to wax, shave or epilate their pubic hair, with just 16.2% leaving it intact.

“Hygiene” was the most commonly reported reason (59%) for women removing their hair.

But Dr Gunter warns waxing, shaving or “sugaring” – mixing sugar, lemon juice and water to create a wax-like gel – may do more harm than good.

“You are causing microscopic trauma to the skin,” she told the BBC.

The gynaecologist added she sees women with cuts, grazes and even infections when hair removal goes awry.

“Pubic hair has a function, it is probably a mechanical barrier and protection for the skin,” she said.

“It may also have a role in sexual functioning because each pubic hair is attached to a nerve ending, that’s why it hurts to remove it.”

Why do we have pubic hair?

The role of pubic hair is not fully understood.

Most experts think it is involved in the release of pheromones, chemicals that trigger arousal.

Pheromones are thought to be “get trapped in pubic hair when glands release an odourless secretion on the skin that combines with bacteria decomposed by the secretion of (other) glands”, according to an expert from Columbia University in New York.

This produces a scent that varies from person-to-person.

Some studies suggest women are attracted to pheromones that differ significantly from their own because it suggests genetic diversity, the expert added.

Other theories as to pubic hair’s purpose include warmth or helping the vagina stay “clean”.

“Pubic hair prevents dirt and particles from entering the vagina,” the Columbian scientist reported.

Critics argue, however, if warmth was the reason, men would surely have more hair along their penis and around their scrotum.

The protection theory also falls short because men do not have similar cushioning around the opening of their urethra.

Humans are thought to have removed their hair as far back as prehistoric times.

“Tweezers” made of shells have even been found in ancient caves.

The Egyptians also reportedly associated body hair with uncleanliness.

Removing pubic hair may have some benefits, by protecting against body lice.

The tiny insects live on coarse human hair, like that found around the genitals, according to the NHS.

    Pubic lice

Find out about pubic lice, including what they look like, how you get them, symptoms, when to seek medical advic…

Body lice spread via skin-to-skin contact, usually sex.

As well as thriving on the genitals, the insects can also set up home on the armpits, legs, chest, abdomen, back, face, and even the eyebrows and eyelashes.

Basically, anywhere with hair, aside from the scalp.

These days, women are less likely to remove their pubic hair out of a fear of lice.

“The increased prevalence of pornography that depicts bare genitalia, popular magazines and television are primary drivers of the trend in the United States,” the UCSF scientists wrote in the journal JAMA Dermatology.

In their study, 875 women (31.5%) claimed they groomed their pubic hair because they felt it “made their genitals more attractive”.

And 586 (21.1%) said it is their “partner’s preference”.

Asked when they would remove their pubic hair, most (55.6%) said before sex.

This was followed by before a holiday (45.7%) and to prepare for a “healthcare professional visit” (40%).

For those who still want to go hair-free “down there”, Dr Gunter urges them to use a clean razor and shave in the direction of the hair.

Going “against the grain” increases the risk of ingrown hairs, which can become infected.

And for those who go for a wax, ensure the technician does not “double dip” the wooden sticks used.

This could spread bacteria between clients, Dr Gunter added.

  • Five mistakes you make while charging your phone

Five mistakes you make while charging your phone

    Our Reporter

Many phone users tend to complain that their device’s batteries discharge quickly. They also typically blame the product manufacturer for this issue; however, the manufacturer isn’t always at fault. Here are some five mistakes that users typically make when charging their phones.

Waiting for the Battery to reach low levels before charging

Avoid waiting for your battery to reach a critically low level before charging. The effect of this on your phone battery is not immediate, but over time it begins to manifest and it eventually stresses out your phone battery (yes, batteries get stressed too) and shortens the battery life. Think of your battery as a human body, you really don’t need to wait until you’re about to die before you rest and eat to recharge yourself.

Keeping your phone case on while charging

Your phone typically emits heat when charging. To avoid exposing your device to ambient temperatures, it’s advisable to remove the phone case while charging your phone so that the heat emitted from your phone while charging can escape. This way you can prevent your device from becoming hotter and potentially overheating when charging. Charging your battery at uncomfortable temperatures can permanently damage battery capacity.

Read Also: How to make your bank reverse your money

Charging your phone in the wrong places

You should mind where you charge your phone, because not doing so can negatively affect your battery capacity. Phones have a temperature range they can function normally and charging your phone in a hot area can raise the temperature and stress the battery out. Also, charging your phone in especially low temperature areas, like in front of an air conditioner, can also cause problems for your battery that will eventually affect its optimum performance.

    Charging your phone overnight

The least you’ll sleep throughout the night is most likely going to be between 5 to 8 hours, your smartphone battery typically only needs 2 to 3 hours to fully charge. Charging your phone overnight, constantly stresses your phone battery each night. Sooner than later, your phone is likely to have battery problems. In addition, the temperature rises when the battery is overcharged, so apart from shortening battery life, it can also threaten user’s safety in the event it quickly heats up and explodes. It’s better to charge your phone before you sleep and switch it off while sleeping to preserve the battery till the next day.

    Plugging whatever charger fits

This especially applies to smartphones. Most smartphones use a micro USB for its chargers and for this reasons most people tend to switch and swap chargers since it fits into and works on their phones. However, this is not appropriate and in the long run it can negatively affect your phone battery. The fact that most smartphones have the same micro USB doesn’t mean all chargers and phones are compatible. Some chargers function differently and that difference can be detrimental to your device if care is not taken.
